Major Patch for Cities: Skylines 2 Was Released on Steam. Economy 2.0 Is Set to Revolutionize Gameplay
Cities: Skylines II is an economic strategy game in which we must create a perfect city. We'll construct roads and buildings, set taxes and ensure our citizens' needs are met. Just like the first game, it was developed by the Finnish studio Colossal Order.
Mechanics
Cities: Skylines II lets players plan and build their own city. We start off with but a small patch of land, which we can quickly start transforming into a bustling city. We'll build skyscrapers, residential districts and factories to support the local industry. We must set up hospitals, police stations and fire departments to ensure our people's safety. A high number of citizens brings pride, but also responsibility, as they all need water, electricity, entertainment and the like.
Thanks to the improved road system, we can instantly create connected roads and expand them with intersections, roundabouts, wide sidewalks, soundproof screens and separate lanes for public transportation. Next, we'll build pedestrian zones and parking lots (where they can park their vehicles instead of by the streets) to make it easier for citizens to visit the city center, and create footbridges for pedestrians to use without disrupting traffic.City services will take care of the roads' condition (by filling in holes or removing snow), reducing the risk of accidents.
Each decision brings new challenges to face. Our city in Cities: Skylines II is a living being reacting to change. Developing industry brings profits, but also pollution. Making entertainment available increases citizen satisfaction, but also burdens the city's budget. We must also prepare for the changing seasons and make sure we have ways to deal with natural disasters.
Modifications
Cities: Skylines II - just like the previous installment - features mod support. This means players can try to modify the game themselves.
