Dark Souls II - Crown of the Sunken King, released on PC, X360 and PS3, is the first expansion for Dark Souls II, a popular action RPG, which was created by a Japanese studio FromSoftware. The developer has so far had little experience in developing DLCs. Their only previous expansion, Artorias of the Abyss, was prepared for the first Dark Souls, which debuted in 2011 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and a year later on PC. It is worth mentioning, however, that the DLC was praised by players and offered many hours of satisfying gameplay. Crown of the Sunken King is part of a series of three DLCs that have been built to take full advantage of the specific ideas that characterize the Souls series. The adventures are connected with the basic version of the game and also with each other. During the game, players will have to find three legendary crowns.
Plot
Crown of the Sunken King takes us to a completely new location that did not appear in the main Dark Souls II campaign. Players find themselves in the ancient ruins hidden under the ground, where the titular crown is hidden.
Mechanics
During the exploration, we will visit vast chambers filled with new enemies and traps. Although the layout of the levels visited is quite linear, players can choose different paths and shortcuts, some of which are cleverly hidden.
Game modes
The creators decided to introduce a special option for players who like cooperation. The expansion contains a special, more difficult path where we face demanding bosses, designed with co-op in mind. What is interesting, the access to this DLC is also available to people who didn't buy it but have downloaded only the appropriate patch. Of course, if we feel strong and our character is of a high enough level, we can deal with the challenge alone.
