Blue Shift is a standalone add-on for Half-Life. The player assumes the role of a Black Mesa facility guard whose task is to investigate the restricted rooms in the mysterious government building and to save the scientists who still live. Alien life forms created in failed experiments, as well as the military with a mission to exterminate all infected people, will try to stop us. Traversing the restricted area, we will slowly discover the story behind the aforementioned experiments.
Compared to the original, Blue Shift comes with improved AI of the computer opponents, as well as enhanced animations. The multiplayer mode allows for a maximum of 30 players to compete online or via LAN.
The game box also contains Half-Life High Definition Pack, a small add-on that updates the weapon and character models in all the previous products in the series.
