Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Future Tone DX for PS4 is an enhanced version of Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Future Tone, originally released in 2016. It is the work of Sega Company, which has been developing the series since 2009, first for PlayStation Portable. It consists of several core games and spin-offs, including the 2010’s Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Arcade developed for arcades. Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Future Tone DX is a direct port of the latest entries in the series and includes all available DLCs for Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Future Tone, as well as completely new songs and costumes.

The main attraction of Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Future Tone comes in form of tracks performed by six virtual singers known from professional programs of a music company Crypton Future Media. Fans have used them to create thousands of songs throughout a few years from various genres, which have gained a massive popularity thanks to social networks and video sites like YouTube or Niconico.

Game mechanics

As far as gameplay goes, Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Future Tone DX isn’t any different from other music games or previous entries in the franchise. Players watch displayed music videos and symbols representing buttons, which must be pressed quickly and precisely. There are a few difficulty levels to choose from and many customization options of controls and interface.

Unlike other titles from Project Diva series, the game doesn’t offer simulation features, so players can’t interact with its cast or change their rooms. However, there are still various costumes (395 in total) and accessories available for characters. Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Future Tone DX features the total of 238 songs, most of which known from previous entries in the series, but some of them created specifically for that title. Fans of Vocaloid (the series of voice synthesizer program, from which the titular character of the game comes) will find their favorite tracks and songs the appeared in recent years. Additionally, the DX version adds PV Photo mode, which can be used to take photos during music videos and then edit them or add stickers.

Technical aspects

Unlike previous games from the main series, Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Future Tone DX for PS4 makes use of technologies developed for arcades, which must be adjusted to performance and capabilities of handhelds. Thanks to that, it offers better visuals that support 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second.
