How to Survive is an action adventure horror game. It was developed Eko Software Studios, or team responsible for such titles as Storm, Wanted Corp, Cyberbike, or Gift.
The game is set in an archipelago of four small islands located in the territorial waters of Colombia. The place seems deserted and idyllic, but after the protagonists arrive they quickly discover that, in fact, it is filled with hordes of ravenous zombies. When starting the game, players choose one of three characters – agile Abby, strong Jack, or universal Kenji. Each of them has a simple skill tree, the last couple of skills being ascribed exclusively to particular characters.
The game features a single-player story campaign and a cooperative multiplayer. Two people can play in a special challenges mode via the Internet, or on a single screen.
The game’s world is mostly open and offers a lot of freedom in exploration of the islands. The game focuses on survival aspect. It is necessary to gather food, water and to rest (to be able to fall asleep, you must first clear the area of enemies and carefully close the door in one of the many shelters). The game features a daily cycle, which main consequence is that after dark light-fearing creatures come out. Most of the time, however, you fight against zombies. In combat you use personally constructed weapons - crafting system also makes it possible to create many other helpful items. You watch all this from above - the camera is “hung” high above the heads of the character.
