SaGa Emerald Beyond is a jRPG game in the series that began in 1989 with The Final Fantasy Legend. The development and release of this game was overseen by the Square Enix company, which manages the brand.
Plot
SaGa Emerald Beyond takes us on a journey through various worlds bordering on fantasy and science fiction, combined with the titular interdimensional space - Beyond. Among the worlds we can a futuristic universe of skyscrapers, as well as fantasy lands belonging to witches and vampires.
There are six available characters: Tsunanori Mido, who at all costs wants to maintain the protective barrier of his city, a witch named Ameya, trying to regain her lost power, a vampire Siugnas, wanting to reclaim the throne of his world, Diva No. 5, being a singing mech that lost its voice and body, as well as the duo of Bonnie Blair and Formina Franklyn, conducting an investigation into the attempted assassination.
How their fates will unfold depends largely on our actions and the choices we make, so each subsequent adventure may look completely different from the previous ones. The game offers the largest number of story plots out of all the installments in the series.
Mechanics
In SaGa Emerald Beyond we watch the action from a third-person perspective (TPP). Traveling through various locations, we converse with their inhabitants, carry out various quests and recruit team members, as well as confront opponents.
The battles are turn-based, and during them the key to success is the proper placement of the team on the battlefield and skillful use of their strengths and abilities. These last ones can be combined into spectacular and deadly chain attacks. It's also possible to interrupt attacks launched by adversaries, apply various buffs to individual characters, or manipulate the order of actions.
The game doesn't feature a classic system based on experience points and gaining subsequent levels. Instead, character development is closely linked to the weapon and the skills assigned to it.
Technical aspects
The graphic design of SaGa Emerald Beyond is maintained in manga style.
