Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a sequel to Spider-Man, an action game released in 2018, being a slightly smaller production than its predecessor. It was developed by Insomniac Games, the same studio responsible for the original game.
Plot
The titular protagonist of Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a teenager with supernatural powers. While Peter Parker is absent, Miles must follow his legacy and protect the citizens of New York under the mantle of Spider-Man. The protagonist soon ends up in the middle of a war between a technologically advanced criminal group and an energy producing corporation.
Gameplay
Spider-Man: Miles Morales is an action game shown from the third person perspective (TPP). The game's world is, once again, the island of Manhattan known from the original Spider-Man, this time during winter. Just like in the original, you can traverse the map by swinging on webs, running on walls and jumping across rooftops.
The game features plenty of story missions, accompanied by numerous side missions and optional activities. The dynamic combat system plays a huge part in the game. Miles can fight enemies with his fists, but also with a number of advanced gadgets, webs and his unique bioelectric abilities. There are also stealth sections during which the player must stay hidden, sneak behind enemies and quietly take them out, as well as spectacular boss fights.
Technology
Spider-Man: Miles Morales runs on Insomniac Games' in-house technology. The game's engine has been refined to fully take advantage of the PlayStation 5's capabilities. The game runs in 4K, features ray-tracing and 3D Audio, as well as plays in 60 FPS (after selecting the appropriate visual mode). In addition, the game makes use of the DualSense controller's unique features, namely haptic vibrations and adaptive triggers, as well as takes advantage of the console's SSD (which manifests mainly through near-instantaneous loading times).
