Sword Art Online Last Recollection

Sword Art Online Last Recollection is a Japanese action RPG based on the popular franchise consisting of light novels, manga and an anime series. The game was developed by the Japanese studio Aquria, also responsible for games such as The Caligula Effect: Overdose, Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris and Sword Art Online Re: Hollow Fragment.

Plot

The game is set in the near future, at a time when advanced VR MMO games have become popular. The main playable character is Kirito, one of the most talented VR players in all of Japan.

Sword Art Online Last Recollection is based on the saga shown during, for example, the anime Sword Art Online: Alicization - War of Underworld, taking place in the titular virtual world of Underworld. Throughout the campaign the player faces the Dark Knight and his armies. Curiously, the game isn't a direct adaptation of the original work. Instead, it's a "what-if" scenario, in which the heroes weren't defeated.

Mechanics

Sword Art Online Last Recollection game is a classic action RPG. The gameplay is shown from the third-person perspective, the game focusing on exploring the world, completing quest, developing our character and, above all else, battling enemies.

Combat is dynamic and highly arcade-styled. The player must attack and evade manually, having a large arsenal of special techniques to make use of.

Game modes

During the singleplayer campaign the player takes control of Kirito, accompanied by AI-controlled allies.

The game also includes an online mode resembling an MMO, letting us control one of 40 available playable characters.

Technical aspects

Sword Art Online Last Recollection's appealing 3D visuals have been inspired by the artstyle present in the anime adaptation.
