The Virunga National Park (formerly Albert National Park) lies from the Virunga Mountains, to the Rwenzori Mountains, in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, bordering Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and Rwenzori Mountains National Park in Uganda. The lion (Panthera leo) is one of four big cats in the genus Panthera, and a member of the family Felidae. They typically inhabit savanna and grassland, although they may take to bush and forest. Lions are unusually social compared to other cats. The lion is an apex and keystone predator, although they will scavenge if the opportunity arises. Het Virunga nationaal park (vroeger het Albert Nationaal Park) strekt zich over een gebied van 7800 vierkant kilometer uit van het Virungagebergte tot het Rwenzorigebrergte. Het grenst aan het Edwardmeer en is bekend voor zijn nijlpaarden. In ander gebieden vindt men moerassen en vlakten. De leeuw (Panthera leo) is een groot roofdier uit de familie der katachtigen (Felidae). De leeuw is de enige katachtige die een sociale in plaats van een solitaire leefwijze heeft. Le parc national des Virunga est le plus ancien parc national de la République démocratique du Congo et d'Afrique. Le parc est situé dans l'est de la République démocratique du Congo et couvre en partie les montagnes des Virunga, près du Rwanda et de l'Ouganda. Le lion (Panthera leo) est un mammifère carnivore de la famille des félidés (Felidae) du genre Panthera (félins). La femelle du lion est la lionne, c'est elle qui va chasser pendant que le mâle se repose, son petit est le lionceau. Le lion rugit. Contrairement aux autres fauves, plutôt solitaires, les lions vivent dans des troupes. |
