Negrense as ethnic group?
[edit]Hi! I myself is a Negrense, but based on the facts that were gathered around in the Negrense page, it is clearly stated that Negrense is not an official ethnic group. The original inhabitants are the Atis and Buglas Bukidnon which nowadays are being referred as the minority indigenous people of the island. The Hiligaynons and Cebuanos intermigrated to Negros island over the years which are now the majority residents. Collectively, the Hiligaynons and Cebuanos that comprises the entire Negros island are known to be "Negrenses"; therefore Negrense is just a demonym of residents of Negros island. No offense, but if you would insist that Negrense should be added on the template, then we could include the Manileños, Cotabateños, Cagayanons, Albayanon, Caviteño, etc. in the template as well. Thank you and have a pleasant day. Cheers! – Mclovin'tosh (talk) 05:50, 27 April 2016.
- Mclovin'tosh - OK, I understand what you mean. I'm also a Negrense, but today, I'm living in Balanga City, Bataan, which is a province filled with the ethnic groups of Tagalogs, Kapampangans and Aetas. So, if I insert/add Negrense in the Ethnic Groups of the Philippines template, does that mean that Bataeños (people of Bataan) should also be regarded as a separate ethnic group from the Tagalogs, Kapampangans and Aetas? I always wished that Negrenses are a separate and official ethnic group with a distinct identity from their Ilonggo and Cebuano neighbours/antecedents. You are free to answer my comment! Also, where do you live? I always wanted to meet fellow Negrense Wikipedians ;-) . Maayong Adlaw Sa Imo! --Aki (contributions) April 27 2016, 02:32 P.M. (PST)
- @Nin-5H: Maayong adlaw! Hi I just can't help but notice your discussion. I also agree with Mclovin'tosh, Negrense is not an ethnic group. Negrense is what you call the "collective name" of Cebuanos and Hiligaynons living in Negros island. I hope this clarifies everything. Same goes with Bataeños, there is no such thing as Bataeño ethnic group. Bataeños could be Tagalogs, Kapampangans or Aetas as what you said. Bataeños is the demonym of people from Bataan regardless of ethnicity. PDPNIR (talk) 17:21, 29 April 2016.
- @Nin-5H: sorry for the late response. by the way, thank you PDPNIR for the further clarifications you've made. I guess you already answer all Mr. Aki's questions... and to answer your other question Mr. Aki, I'm from Cadiz City, Neg. Occ. working in Bacolod City and I'm with Cebuano descent. I speak fluent Cebuano and Hiligaynon. Thank you. – Mclovin'tosh (talk) 16:47, 03 May 2016.
Mclovin'tosh - I'm born in Bacolod City and I speak Hiligaynon (Ilonggo) and English, plus level-02 Italian and level-00 Korean, but now, I live in Central Luzon Region's Balanga City, which I can't really stand at all, because of bad cost of living, and since I am a Bacolodnon urbanite who wishes to live in bigger, highly urbanized cities and not in smaller cities. BTW, I wish I could go to your hometown Cadiz City, cuz I think it's beautiful in there since Negros Island Region is really a wonderful region that I am proud to call it my one and only home. Salamat sa tanan! (Italian: Grazie per tutti!; English: Thanks for everything!). Surprise Me! --Aki (contributions) May 04 2016, 01:29 P.M. (PST)
