If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.

the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
Technical requests
[edit]Uncontroversial technical requests
[edit]- The Ister → Ister (currently a redirect back to The Ister) (move · discuss) – First, we don't normally put the word "the" in an article title. Second, one of the targets to be disambiguated here is Ister of Cyrene, a person. It's fine to refer to the Ister river as "Ister"; it's awkward to refer to Ister the historian as "The Ister." Requests to revert undiscussed moves
[edit]- Normal People (miniseries) → Normal People (TV series) (currently a redirect back to Normal People (miniseries)) (move · discuss) – Undiscussed change from UK/Irish format backed with references on page Halbared (talk) 14:55, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- This is the correct naming convention for a contained series per WP:NCTV. -- Wikipedical (talk) 18:45, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Wikipedical: As I understand WP:NCTV, "(miniseries)" is only used when disambiguation is required. jlwoodwa (talk) 19:07, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- Correct, and disambiguation is required. The sentence is saying use (miniseries) as opposed to (TV series), not use (miniseries) only when there’s another article already with (TV series). -- Wikipedical (talk) 04:23, 12 November 2024 (UTC)

Contested technical requests
[edit]- Lockerbie (miniseries) → Lockerbie (TV series) (currently a redirect instead to Lockerbie (disambiguation)) (move · discuss) – Two telly dramas are being released in short space of each other, one has the byline 'search for truth,' the other has been mistakenly placed as a 'miniseries.' TV series is the correct format backed by references on page Halbared (talk) 15:04, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- Per WP:NCTV, this disambiguation is correct for a six-part limited series. The "TV series" page should actually redirect to the Lockerbie disambiguation page. -- Wikipedical (talk) 18:50, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- Sri Lankan Tamils → Eelam Tamils (currently a redirect back to Sri Lankan Tamils) (move · discuss) – It is the common name used for referring this ethnolinguistic group and It is also how they identify themselves with. Yarohj (talk) 13:52, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
- Little Miss Marker (1934 film) → Little Miss Marker (move · discuss) – WP:MISPLACED JohnCWiesenthal (talk) 04:43, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
- @JohnCWiesenthal Due to the existence of Little Miss Marker (1980 film), Little Miss Marker has been converted into a disambiguation page. GTrang (talk) 05:44, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
- The 1980 film is more popular with readers than the 1934 film. — BarrelProof (talk) 04:50, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
- The 1980 film has a view advantage but less than 2:1 over the one other article is probably not enough to assert primary topic for WP:ONEOTHER, it'd have to be determined by a full RM. RachelTensions (talk) 07:10, 11 November 2024 (UTC)

- Foreign policy of the Donald Trump administration → Foreign policy of the first Trump Administration (move · discuss) – Second (non-consecutive) term. Kmhkei (talk) 04:41, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Kmhkei: At the moment, similar moves have been contested as too soon. See Talk:Political appointments by Donald Trump#Requested move 7 November 2024. Also, administration should remain lowercase per MOS:CAPS (and since lowercase is more common). SilverLocust 💬 10:14, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, as far as I know, there has only been one Trump administration. — BarrelProof (talk) 04:50, 9 November 2024 (UTC)

- Coaster → Coaster (disambiguation) (currently a redirect back to Coaster) (move · discuss) – the primary topic is now incorrectly and confusingly under the title "trivet", which doesn't even mean "coaster" in American English Espoo (talk) 15:48, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- Pot coaster (or trivet) is not even close to being the primary topic (in terms of pageviews) of the term "coaster": current massviews, trivet prior to move RachelTensions (talk) 18:34, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
