The Russo brothers have quite a bit on their plate. Not only are they returning to one of the biggest franchises in movies with future Avengers films, but the brothers’ artist-led production company, Agbo, is also bringing the Citadel franchise to Prime Video with its many incarnations, as well as finally releasing their long-awaited sci-fi film, The Electric State, next year in March. The Chris Pratt and Millie Bobby Brown film would finally secure a rating from the MPA with a PG-13 for sci-fi violence/action, language and some thematic material.
The Hollywood Reporter recently got to sit down with the Russo’s sister, Angela Russo-Otstot, who is the Creative Chief for Agbo, as she talks about the upcoming projects from their company. Russo-Otstot would divulge some details about The Electric State. She calls the film “a really interesting exploration of a world where service robots live alongside humans. Within...

Netflix Dishes The Data
Being transparent: Long-serving Netflix execs love to ruminate on the era when the company was a DVD mailing service, but what felt pertinent this week was the streamer’s more recent transformation into an outfit that is very much at ease with transparency over viewing data. The murky days of walled gardens and numbers being kept hidden from even the most in-the-know producers appear behind us, and Ted Sarandos was in the English capital to beat this particular drum. In a fortuitous bit of timing that was probably more execution than luck, the CEO keynoted a Netflix-sponsored Rts London Convention event in the week that the streamer’s latest data dump revealed the Brits have this year, in common parlance,...

For years, Hollywood leaned toward casting actors in their late 20s and 30s when it comes to teen roles, as there is often less hassle to work with more experienced actors. Fortunately, Netflix’s Stranger Things, which also served as a big break for the streaming platform, opted to go with actual teens that fit the roles.

However, considering the major gaps between each release, fans feared that the actors would grow out of their roles, and the recent behind-the-scenes footage only aggravated the situation.

Are there millions of people hate-watching movies on Netflix?
Two of the streaming giant’s original films, sci-fi feature “Atlas,” starring Jennifer Lopez, and romantic comedy “Mother of the Bride,” starring Brooke Shields and Miranda Cosgrove, garnered notably poor reviews and audience-rating scores. But both were among the most popular films on Netflix in the first half of 2024, according to the company’s latest massive data report: “Atlas” registered 77.1 million views worldwide and “Mother of the Bride” had 77.7 million.
Those metrics put both in the top 10 of Netflix’s most-watched movies for the first six months of the year — all the more remarkable because the report measured less than two months of viewing for those two titles: “Mother of the Bride” debuted May 9 and “Atlas” dropped on May 24.
“Atlas” has a meager 19% critics score (based on 110 reviews) on Rotten Tomatoes, and “Mother of the Bride” is even lower at 13% (48 reviews...

Netflix’s latest data dump has given more insight into its decision-making process when it comes to renewals and cancellations.
While the streamer has always said those decisions come down to performance vs. cost, its third What We Watched report is beginning to crystallize what some of the thresholds are for various genres, as well as what “performance” means to Netflix beyond just raw viewership numbers.
Obliterated and Dead Boy Detectives were the two shows to get the axe this year that drew the most views from January to June, though it was clearly not enough to keep either show alive.
Obliterated was No. 1 among cancelled shows, tallying 13.3M views in the first half of the year, coming in 83rd for all titles. The show was released at the end of November 2023, and it accumulated 27M views through the end of December, which actually put it among Netflix’s Top...

Netflix unveiled the first big data dump of 2024 on Thursday, and the engagement report for everything watched in the first half of the year proved that subscribers really love three things: Millie Bobby Brown, sharks and animated movies.
Some of the data points were unsurprising – we knew Brown’s “Damsel” was a huge hit, and indeed it was the most-watched film for the first half of the year. But others were interesting, like just how heavily Netflix’s streaming partnership with Universal factors into what’s being watched and the relative success of Zack Snyder’s “Rebel Moon” films.
Below, we thumb through the biggest winners on the film side of the data dump.

It's now been over two years since Stranger Things season 4 ended, and we're still impatiently awaiting the arrival of the fifth and final season. The lengthy wait only adds plenty more pressure and anticipation onto the final installment. It's destined to be an emotional affair for everyone, but especially the cast who've been working on the show for almost a decade.
In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, star David Harbour looked back on his journey on the Netflix series. "Getting back to the Og crew of this final season has been wild in a way because we have come so far, and it is not the show that we started in Season 1," he said. Over the last few years, he's watched much of the cast grow from children to adults, making big names for themselves in the industry. "I think that's a wild experience for all of us. I mean,...

After being delayed several months by the writers strike and the actors strike, season 5 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things (which is also the last season of the show) finally went into production at the start of the year and is now deep into its twelve month shooting schedule… So deep, in fact, that the cast has gotten together for a read-through the script for the final episode – and while speaking with ComicBook.com, cast member David Harbour revealed there was “heavy weeping” during the reading of that script.
Stranger Things has the following synopsis: A love letter to the ‘80s classic genre films that captivated a generation, Stranger Things is a thrilling drama set in the seemingly normal Midwestern town of Hawkins, Indiana. After a boy vanishes into thin air, his close-knit group of friends and family search for answers and are pulled into a high-stakes and deadly series of events.

Entertainment has traditionally been a male-led industry, but now things are changing. Names like Jenna Ortega and Zendaya are emerging as new norms, capable of drawing large audiences, marking a significant shift from what we saw 10-20 years ago.

Anne with an E was definitely one of the best shows on Netflix. Even though the period drama was canceled in 2019 after three seasons, us fans still think about it and are upset it did not continue and get a proper ending. If you're like me and miss Anne with an E, then you might be looking for something to fill that void. Well, we've got some recs for you!
The Artful Dodger
Stream on Hulu and Disney+
Even though The Artful Dodger has a male lead, that doesn't mean there aren't similarities between the titular character, aka Jack Dawkins, and Anne. Plus, the story serves as a sequel to the events in Charles Dickens' famous novel Oliver Twist, and features a strong female lead, Lady Belle Fox, played by Maia Mitchell. And spoiler alert, there's a romance that brews between Jack and Belle that you will ship just like Anne and Gilbert.

For Winona Ryder, one of the strangest things of all is how Gen Z actors aren’t actually “interested in movies.”
Ryder, whose own stardom began at age 14 with her film debut in 1986’s “Lucas,” told the Los Angeles Times that the younger generation of stars today don’t respect film history.
“I don’t mean to sound so hopeless,” Ryder said. “There are a few that are just not interested in movies. Like, the first thing they say is, ‘How long is it?'”
And so begins the guessing game of whom Ryder could be referring to.
The “Stranger Things” and “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” actress quickly started ruling out potential anti-cinephiles, beginning with fellow film-obsessed actress Jenna Ortega. Ryder told the outlet that Ortega referenced Mikhail Kalatozov’s 1964 film “I Am Cuba,” which per Lat “immediately impressed” Ryder.

The occasion marked the couple’s public debut at an official event though they did not pose on the red carpet together outside Palazzo del Cinema. They did, however, attend a cocktail reception at the Hotel Excelsior before the world premiere as well as a post-screening reception at Palazzina Grassi, and they were captured in paparazzi images going to and fro. Winona Ryder is a cinephile and really wants her younger co-stars to be, too. In recent interviews while promoting her role in Tim Burton’s upcoming sequel “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” the Oscar-nominated actor lamented over how some of the young actors she’s worked with in recent years just aren’t interested in watching movies. Be it working with the “Stranger Things” kids or Jenna Ortega on the “Beetlejuice” sequel, Ryder told Esquire she is very much aware that “I’ve gone from being the youngest person on set to being the oldest.”
As the Los Angeles Times noted in a recent profile: “Ryder appreciates getting to interact with the up-and-coming generation of film lovers who remind her of herself, excitedly telling me how her ‘Stranger Things’ co-star Finn Wolfhard is obsessed with Elliott Gould. Still, she gets frustrated when there is a lack of curiosity among her more junior colleagues.

Outer Banks is one of the best teen dramas on TV right now, and it has been since the show premiered on Netflix in 2020. Now, Outer Banks is heading into its fourth season on Netflix this fall. We're still waiting on the premiere date, but we know the interest in the Netflix original series is at an all-time high.
Everybody wants to see Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Jonathan Daviss, Madison Bailey, Rudy Pankow, Drew Starkey, and Carlacia Grant back in the Outer Banks working on finding a new treasure. Luckily, we don't have to wait too long, although Netflix hasn't announced the premiere of the fourth season yet.
There are lots of lists of shows to watch if you like Outer Banks. On them, you'll find all of the latest summer, beach, and teen dramas, but I think Outer Banks fans need more than that. We don't just love the show because it's good vibes.

Despite The Witcher being renewed for season 4, original leading man Henry Cavill has stepped away from the series. In the upcoming fourth season, the central role of Geralt of Rivia will be played by Liam Hemsworth instead.
Cavill never explained why he was leaving the popular Netflix series, although there was plenty of fan speculation. Let’s take a look at the likely reasons Cavill decided to walk away from this fantastical role.
1. There were creative differences on the set

If Stranger Things followed a regular release schedule, it would've all been wrapped up by now. But things being the way they are, with the show being hit with myriad delays from the pandemic and the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, we have to wait until 2025 for the story to reach its conclusion.
Filming on the fifth and final season has been ongoing since January, and most of the cast have weighed in on the show's ending. We've had Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven) confess that it's a "really weird" feeling for the series to be coming to an end, while Maya Hawke (Robin) talked about the draining process of making "basically eight movies." There seems to be a shared feeling of excitement and pride, mixed with a dose of exhaustion.

A few months ago, we got the release of the fifth film in WB/Legendary’s MonsterVerse saga, Godzilla x Kong: The New Era. These films have attempted to somewhat reinvent the traditional Kaiju film for Western audiences, with our mighty monster heroes being called Titans. While the franchise arguably stumbled out of the gate with director Gareth Edwards’ coolly received Godzilla, the saga has steadily grown in popularity, and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire was a big hit. But how do the films stack up against each other? Let’s take a look with our MonsterVerse Movies Ranked List!

Será el sexto proyecto de la actriz en el gigante de streaming.

Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown is in talks to bring her WWII novel, Nineteen Steps, to the streamer, according to a new report.
She can sing, she can act, and she can co-write a WWII novel based on the life of her grandmother featuring the Bethnal Green Tube disaster. And now, Grey’s Anatomy season eleven episode fifteen star Millie Bobby Brown looks like she’s adding “co-author of a successful WWII novel adapted into a Netflix film” to her increasingly lengthy CV.
Nineteen Steps, which Brown co-wrote with author Kathleen McGurl, was released in September 2023, and seems to have done rather well. Telling the story of 18-year-old East Londoner Nellie Morris as she navigates rationing, bombings and a romance with an American serviceman, it reached number two on the Sunday Times bestsellers list.
Excellent fodder, then, for a film adaptation. Though Netflix hasn’t confirmed anything either way,...
