Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007)
Fantastic.........
I mean this was a wonderful, delightful Harry Potter film. I mean where do I even start? The film is just a turning point in the franchise. The characters they introduce are great and memorable. They do more mysterious things to keep it constantly entertaining. The world building is grand. The new teacher is a total prick and it works great. The acting from everyone is great, and the divide of the school on what Harry saw was really entertaining to watch. The special effects also grew quite a bit. They mixed special and practical effects greatly. Overall this was a magnificent Harry Potter film.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009)
Wow......
Talk about memorable moments. Wow, this film is full of them. While the story can sometimes go slow, the high points are super high. The characters all create a dark but delightful feel. The magic is dark but whimsical. The tragedies in this film are very much there. The Half-Blood Prince is definitely darker than the other five for sure. The twist in the film was completely out of nowhere, and really makes you rethink everything you saw in the franchise before. The special effects work better, even though they don't use much of it. Overall this was a great addition once more to the fantastic franchise known as Harry Potter.
Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre (2023)
Does its job.........
This film really does fall flat. I am a massive Guy Ritchie fan but this feels like a fan made film. The writing and classic dark wit is nowhere to be seen in this film. The style that always has your eyes Dazed in amazement is barely there. The actors are kind of there but a good portion are miscasted. And the overall end of the film basically leaves you with the overall thought of "well, its not bad. Just a worse Man From U. N. C. L. E." that is the best way to explain this film. The action is good, seventy percent of the comedy hits and there are some levels of style in there. But overall this was a fun action movie.
Scream VI (2023)
Great Film........
I can't believe this franchise is on its sixth film and still manages to be great. The film has gore (and I mean gore to the max) kills, memorable deaths, a classic Scream twist, lots of nostalgia and all the campyness that makes the Scream movies awesome. The acting is great, with all the actors being funny and somewhat self aware while being scared and surprisingly not to stupid. Normally horror sequels are just bland or bad. There occasionally this good, especially for a 6th installment. It feels original and has lots of love in it. Overall, this was a great horror/slasher/comedy from beginning to end.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods (2023)
Fun..........
I mean the best thing I can give this film is that if you loved the first film, then you will love the second film. If you hated the first film, then don't bother with this one. This film literally captures EVERYTHING from the first and somewhat does it again. But for some reason, I think it did it better. The bad guys despite the horrible trailer, are actually not to bad. There perfectly fine one time villains. The action is about the same, visuals mediocre but compared to the MCU great and the comedy hits better. The film is less cringey and actually more funny than the first. Overall, I personally found this film the better version of the first film.
2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
Fantastic Achievement.........
This film made absolutely no sense to me at all. All the references and points flew by my head. I was left confused but absolutely memorized by what I watched. I simply can't but my mind around this film. It is weird, beyond anything I have ever seen. Yet I absolutely loved it. I can't find anything wrong with it. I think being confused is the best part of the film. It just makes your mind wonder and soar. I really have never had a movie experience quite like this in my life. The visuals in the film are beautiful as well and there filming techniques aren't matched to even today's standards. Overall this was a magnificent film.
Triangle of Sadness (2022)
Original Movie..........
I will say this. I do like this movie, without a doubt. But I do not know why this was a best picture nominee. I mean I'm not trying to pan the film or anything, but films like RRR, Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent, Batman, Nope, Northman and She Said all came out at the same year. But it's still a good movie at its core. It has some laughs, thrills, lots of vomiting and pretty great acting all around. The tone changes all over the place and it works and also doesn't. I think my problem with this film is that it seems like it had to much hype around it. Overall, this was a good movie. There isn't anything really bad about it. There is just far to much hype around this film.
The Nice Guys (2016)
Underrated............
No one talks about this film and I don't know why. I mean The Nice Guys is a funny, action-packed and the writing is superb. The film manages to get you sucked in at the beginning of the film and brings you along a crazy insane story down to the last bit of the film. The action is fun. It is rough and gritty which works for the film entirely throughout. The comedy is hilarious. Both leads bring off the best of one another to where every seen with them works. Each joke is hilarious and doesn't manage to skip a beat. Overall, this is a must watch for movie lovers as it is extremely underrated. And I hope there is a sequel soon.
M3GAN (2022)
A Fun Film...........
I normally despise these kind of films. And when watching the trailer, I wasn't impressed by it at all. To me it just looked like another Chucky film, so I never watched it. But when the unrated got released on Peacock, I thought to my self I might as well watch it. And now watching it, it's not that bad. M3GAN manages to not take itself seriously and have fun, and that made the film so much more enjoyable to me. M3GAN was constantly funny and had its scenes of creepiness. The kills were very well done too. Which blew me away, because like I said I thought this was going to be another Child's Play film. Overall, this was a fun horror film, and I'm glad I checked it out.
The Highwaymen (2019)
A little long................
Although not an awful movie. I mean the acting is alright from Kevin Costner. I mean it was at times stale but not awful. Woody Harrelson did a good job as well. But I think the film really lacks interest for people very quickly. The Highwaymen just drags itself along for over two hours and the runtime shows. Although the last thirty minutes and first thirty minutes were attention grabbing. But in the middle of the film, it just drags. But I don't think it's a horrible film. It had a good budget, a solid attempt at a script and everything looked great as well. Overall, this was a solid attempt for Netflix to take home an Oscar. But a failed one nevertheless.
Cocaine Bear (2023)
A Great Time............
I had such a great time with this film. How can't you have a great time, the film is literally called Cocaine Bear. This ain't a Godfather or Citizen Kane film. This is a crazy, over the top, on its head film. And sometimes, you just got to watch one of those films. And Cocaine Bear isn't a bad pick at all. The comedy all hits in my opinion, some are sudden while others (like the bear) are right on the nose. Everything in this film just fits, nothing in this film is really bad. Although there are plenty of stupid things in this film, it all works awesomely. Overall, this was a fantastic film that is highly rewatchable.
Following (1998)
Great Film..........
This was a lot of fun to watch. To see Christopher Nolan's evolution in film is highly enjoyable. Following being a under budget film and his first film at that, still manages to have all the good things that make a Christopher Nolan film (Besides the special effects, score and sound mixing). The acting was solid for an under budget film. Which shocked me at that. The writing was actually really well done. One could argue it's one of his most thoughtful written films. It is very different from his other films and it was fun to see. Overall, while struggling with a small budget. Following still manages to hold your attention with its writing, pacing and scene jumping.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)
You Know What.......
Does this film have problems. Yeah, and are the obvious? Yeah, but is this film fun? Absolutely. For this film to have such a low rotten tomatoes score shocks me. I thought Antman And The Wasp Quantumania was going to suck, but it actually wasn't horrible. For one, Jonathan Majors steals the show as Kang. He delivers a powerful performance and runs the movie the entire time. And the entire film reminds me a bit of Star Wars so thats a plus. The main problem to me is the ending and the crazy amount of plot conveniences and basic pure stupidity put in this film. I think they needed to explain somethings in this film and fix its ending to fully pull me in to the Quantum world. But overall, this was still at its central core, a fun enough, enjoyable marvel film. And at the streak marvel has been going. This film is more of a plus then a minus.
WWE Elimination Chamber (2023)
Just Brilliant...........
This was a brilliant show. The woman's elimination chamber match was solid and the men's chamber match was absolutely grand. The others were alright as well. But the main match of course was Sami Zayn vs Roman Reigns. This match started with a cheer for Sami Zayn that went on for a long time before any fighting even began. From there the fight was a back and forth and I couldn't tell who was going to win. The last moments of this match just blew me away. Normally when watching WWE paper views, they normally lack in Story telling or just have some boring matches. But overall this was a great paper view and I highly enjoyed it.
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005)
Once Agian Great.........
Harry Potter doesn't seem to disappoint. Once agian just like the other films, The Goblet Of Fire gave more and more to this franchise. Though not as good as The Prisoners Of Azkaban, this film still ups all the things it needed too. It built more character development for all the characters in the Harry Potter world, it showed new wizards from places other than Hogwarts and it was way more dark. The inclusion of Robert Pattinson, David Tennant, Brendan Gleeson and now Ralph Fiennes thoroughly introducing himself as Voldemort was awesome as well. Overall this was a more darker, sad, sports filled films then the last three. But that doesn't make it bad. It is quite a great film.
Lockwood & Co. (2023)
An Enjoyable Watch.........
When I saw the trailers for this, I thought it was going to be some chessy Teen kind of show. But luckily, this was actually pretty good. Sure the special effects are far from good and some of the writing is cheesy. But it has a lot of heart in it. The acting wasn't brilliant but for a Teen show it was fine. I think the best thing about it was the world building. There is a big world building position for this show that I am looking forward to tremendously. Now therefore saying I have not read the books yet. So I don't know how accurate this show is for the books. Overall this was just a fun show with quite a bit of potential to it.
Léon (1994)
Magnificent................
This was such a good film. Luc Besson is a pretty good director already. Films like Fifth Element and in my opinion Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets prove that for sure. And even films like Anna and Lucy have there moments. But Leon The Professional is his best film. There is just so much to like about this film. All the acting (especially from Gary Oldman) are fantastic. Gary Oldman gives an insane over the top performance that captures the viewer throughout. Jean Reno did a great job as well. Throughout the film he has great action scenes and great dialog. Natalie Portman gave arguably one of her best performances she has ever given. Overall this was a great action/drama/thriller.
Knock at the Cabin (2023)
A Somewhat Return To Form............
I have mixed feeling about this film. While the film as a whole is a solid film. I mean the acting is actually pretty good, especially from Dave Bautista. The plot is a solid plot, and it's got some solid suspense and shocking scenes. So for M. Night Shyamalan, this is a nice return to form in terms of his past couple films. The problem to me is that it doesn't really have much of a M. Night Shyamalan feel. It's "big twist" wasn't even really a twist. And while it wasn't a bad decision, it just felt underwhelming. Even in his bad movies, he at least goes for it all in his movies. And this felt like he was just playing it really safe and straight forward. Overall I'm disappointed it was so straightforward but I'm glad it was a solid film in general.
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004)
Perfects The Harry Potter Formula.............
Just such a achievement to me. The character development dives so much deeper in this film then the second (not to put anything against the second) and it works so good. Each character they introduce and continue on are very likeable in there own way. I think this is the only franchise that doesn't have a single character I don't like. The plot develops very far and brings in so much more world building opportunities. Which is always a good thing in the Wizarding world. This movie definitely feels darker but still has that childhood magical wonder to it. Overall this was a great film and is easily one of (if not the) most watchable movie in the franchise.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002)
A Great Sequel..........
I really enjoyed Harry Potter The Sorcerers Stone (Or Philosophers Stone). It had such a magical feel to it and I was super excited watching the sequel. And now watching Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets, it was quite (although not as good as the first film) a great edition to the Harry Potter franchise. I love the continued world building, character development and the continued mysterys of the Wizarding World. Even though the runtime is quite long, it doesn't feel like it's as long as it is. Everything flows well and feels magical. Overall, Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets was a fun sequel and still brings all the hype for this franchise.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001)
A Great Beginning...........
This was such a brilliantly done film. Well Harry Potter is a brilliantly done franchise in general. But the Sorcerers Stone (or Philosophers Stone) is a well done beginning for this franchise. The character development in this franchise is absolutely fantastic. You get instantly attached to the main and side characters instantly. All the actors did a great job and gave funny and fun performances. The overall feel of this movie is so magical and has such a fun feel. I have never seen a movie World get you so attached more quickly then Harry Potter. Overall this film was awesome and I highly recommend it.
Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979)
Beautiful Looking Movie..........
Of course the number one most memorable thing about The Motion Picture is the visual effects. The movie manages to show (for long sequences of time) how good the film looks with its budget and it is just incredible to watch. It also helps with the soundtrack being as good as it is. However, although the film has a beautiful look and a great soundtrack, the essential film itself does tend to drag. There are long (and I mean long) periods of time where nothing is happening. It seems like the director and writer were going for a different feel then the normal Star Trek feel. So overall while it does drag, Star Trek The Motion Picture still has some enjoyment to it.
Free Fire (2016)
Simply Adored It............
This is just a pure film made for your enjoyment. The film is set with loads of different characters with many different personalities. Then once the plot and stakes set in nicely. It becomes just one huge wave of violence, action and jokes. And for me, it worked perfectly. I loved the writing in the film first of all. The jokes all landed well and the talking felt proper for this kind of film. And normally for a film taking place in one location, dialog is quite important. The action is also a lot of fun. Each bit of action had tension and constantly makes you wonder who is going to come out of the situation alright. Overall, this was such a fun film and is widely rewatchable.
Dazed and Confused (1993)
My Favorite Comedy...........
This is an absolute banger of a movie. Where do I honestly begin? Every actor in this movie were great. The visual look of the film is very 70s and a pretty good portrayal at that. And of course when you have a director as great as Richard Linklater, you know you are going to have a brilliant film on your hands. I like the plot of this film and how relaxing it is to watch, it's a good break from normal films with high stakes or lots to lose. Seeing a young Matthew McConaughey, Ben Affleck and Milla Jovovich is fun to see as well. Overall, Dazed & Confused is (to put simply) a once in a lifetime film that everyone should watch.
Dune: Part One (2021)
A Beautiful Film............
I honestly think this will be the new Lord Of The Rings films. First of all the visual look of the film is absolutely gorgeous. Everything is just mesmerizing to watch. The acting from Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Stellan Skarsgård, Javier Bardem and Charlotte Rampling was absolutely great. Every actor in the film had a very good performance to them and made the film a replica from the book. I feel like the runtime (while some don't like it) was perfectly fine. It got to explain the bases of the plot and showed all the characters with there development. Overall this was a perfect film that is highly rewatchable.
