It’s Halloween today. But if you’re more concerned with what your Valentine’s Day plans are going to be, we have the perfect bit of news: there’s a love-up blood-soaked horror slasher on the way titled Heart Eyes, with Freaky’s Christopher Landon and Michael Kennedy on writing duties (alongside Phillip Murphy). The first trailer has just arrived – and since it’s Red Band, it’s a blood-soaked early peek, promising a new iconic horror mask, plenty of gory kills, and a sly sense of humour. Watch it here:
It’s seems the new original slasher boom will continue to deliver – the idea here of a killer specifically hunting down loved-up couples feels fresh. There’s not a huge amount of plot to get into yet, but that eerie masked foe is known as the ‘Heart Eyes Killer’. The cast list – most of whom will likely be...

Happy Halloween!
To mark the spookiest day of the year, Screen Gems (via Bloody Disgusting) has released the first red band teaser trailer for a new horror movie titled Heart Eyes, and it promises to deliver a bloody Valentine's Day massacre.
Directed by Josh Ruben, the premise focuses on a masked killer known as Heart Eyes who only targets couples.
“My love of horror is rivaled only by my love of romantic comedies," said Ruben in a recent interview. "I’m excited as hell to mount my most challenging genre bender to date: a brutal slasher in a nostalgic rom-com universe.”
The teaser doesn't really show us much... until the last few shots, which spotlight a pretty inventive and gruesome kill. We see Heart Eyes plunge a carjack into an unfortunate victim's mouth, then grab his girlfriend and impale her head on the other end of it.

Yesterday, the Netflix streaming service released the time travel slasher Time Cut, which was produced by Christopher Landon and co-written by Michael Kennedy, a duo that had previously worked together on the body swap slasher Freaky. Now, Sony Pictures has unveiled a red band teaser trailer for the Valentine’s Day-set horror romantic comedy Heart Eyes, which Landon and Kennedy wrote with Phillip Murphy (The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard) – and you can check it out in the embed above! Murder in a Small Town won’t be airing for a couple of weeks! When does the Fox mystery show return?
Murder in a Small Town is a unique show as it’s a Canadian production airing on Fox. Based on the novels by L.R. Wright, the show is set in the British Columbia town of Gibsons as Karl Alberg (Rossif Sutherland), a big-city cop, relocates to become the sheriff. He soon forms a bond with local librarian Cassandra (Kristin Kreuk) that becomes a romance.
The show is connecting with some intriguing turns, like how each episode has a big guest star as part of the case. They range from Stana Katic as a woman with a secret to Kreuk’s former Smallville co-star, Erica Durance, as an old friend of Cassandra’s tied to a case.

The mysteries of Murder in a Small Town are usually secondary to Karl and Cassandra’s romance.
However, both will be front and center in Murder in a Small Town Season 1 Episode 5. Spoilers indicate that Cassandra gets kidnapped by a crazed admirer, and it’s up to Gibson’s police department to save the day.
This will be the episode that truly puts their relationship to the test.
(Fox/ YouTube Screenshot)
So far, the spoiler photos and the promo look thrilling. These teasers are based on that and the synopsis of the book it was adapted from, “A Touch of Panic.”
We can’t wait to see what Kristin Kreuk does with this material and see Cassandra’s emotional performance.
Spoilers Tease That Karl and Cassandra Seem Blissfully Happy
During Murder in a Small Town Season 1 Episode 4, Karl shared that he and Cassandra had dated for six months and were officially a couple.

After season three of Chucky ended, fans were subjected to a painfully long wait as the show’s future was decided. Ultimately, USA/SyFy/Peacock canceled Chucky and the entire horror world shed a bloody tear. Even if you weren’t a fan of the franchise, it’s hard to deny how great it was having a classic horror villain get such a mainstream spotlight. Hell, we even got to see Chucky kill WWE Women’s Champion Liv Morgan. It’s the kind of thing that only works in the ludicrous world of Chucky. And with Season 3 ending off on such a cliffhanger, this cancellation really leaves fans high and dry. But there’s still hope in multiple forms.
Don Manicini mentioned earlier this year that he was prepping another movie involving Chucky and it would “work in tandem with the TV show.” Obviously, with this change of events, I...

It’s officially spooky season, and if you’re looking to watch something a little scarier than love in the afternoon, check out these horror movies and TV shows starring some familiar faces from daytime.
From Drama To Horror
While many soap stars tend to stick to dramas or Hallmark Channel romcoms – find out what soap stars will be on Hallmark Channel’s Countdown to Christmas this year – some have branched out to an unexpected genre: horror. If you want to add some familiar faces to a spooky movie night this Halloween, add these to your list of must-watches.
General Hospital
Idle Hands, starring Kelly Monaco
This 1999 horror film stars Devon Sawa and Jessica Alba and follows a teenaged boy who’s hand becomes possessed and goes on a murderous rampage. It certainly didn’t win any Oscars, but it does feature a young Kelly Monaco as one of the victims.

The Syfy and USA Networks have canceled the television series adaptation of the popular horror franchise “Child’s Play” after three seasons. Known as “Chucky,” the show had gained a loyal fan following since its debut but will conclude with many plotlines left unresolved.
Don Mancini, the creator of the “Child’s Play” films and driving creative force behind the TV series, expressed his disappointment publicly. The horror comedy series aired on both USA Network and Syfy. Season 3 aired in two parts — the first in October 2023 and the second between April and May 2024. According to sources, there had been discussions of bringing the show back for an abbreviated final season or even a wrap up film, but ultimately to no avail.
“I’m heartbroken over the news that ‘Chucky’ won’t be coming back for a fourth season, but am so grateful for the killer three years we did have,” series creator Don Mancini said in a statement. “I’d like to thank UCP/Syfy/Peacock/Eat the Cat, our awesome cast and Toronto-based crew (the best in the business), and finally, to our amazing fans, a big bloody hug. Your incredible #RenewChucky campaign really warmed Chucky’s cold heart. Chucky will return! He Always come back.

Horror fans, we're happy to report that the upcoming Spyglass horror rom-com Heart Eyes finally has a theatrical release date. Unfortunately, the movie won't be coming out this year, which was expected since production just recently wrapped in New Zealand in July. The film is currently in post-production. However, Sony will be releasing this movie in theaters early next year. Feb. 7, 2025, to be exact. Don't forget to save the date!
Heart Eyes is described as a Valentine's Day slasher. Josh Ruben directed the film from a screenplay co-written by Phillip Murphy (Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard), Christopher Landon, and Michael Kennedy.
Taking place in Seattle, Washington, Heart Eyes follows a pair of co-workers working overtime at their job during Valentine's Day. But things take a turn for the worse when an infamous couple-hunting murderer known as the "Heart Eyes Killer" shows up at their job and mistakes them for a couple.

February 14th is a Friday in 2025, so that would seem to be the perfect choice of release date for a horror romantic comedy that’s set on Valentine’s Day, which is what the movie Heart Eyes is. But the February 14th release date has already been taken by Disney/Marvel’s Captain America: Brave New World and Paramount’s Smurfs animated movie… so Sony Pictures has chosen to release Heart Eyes on February 7th. Its competition on that date is the Universal action movie With Love, starring Ke Huy Quan.
Coming our way from Josh Ruben, the director of Werewolves Within and Scare Me, Heart Eyes was scripted by Happy Death Day director Christopher Landon, Landon’s Freaky collaborator Michael Kennedy (who also wrote It’s a Wonderful Knife), and Phillip Murphy (The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard). Like Spirit Halloween seizing a once-beloved store, Silver Scream Con moved into the old stomping grounds of Rock and Shock — New England’s premier horror convention, which came to an end in 2019 — at the Dcu Center in Worcester, Ma for its three-quel on September 13-15.
It was a full circle moment for Silver Scream mastermind and Ice Nine Kills frontman Spencer Charnas, whose experiences attending Rock and Shock inspired him to start his own convention. Having quickly outgrown its previous venue, the Doubletree hotel in Danvers, Silver Scream Con III’s new setting was able to accommodate even more horror fans for three days of horror, music, gore, and more.
The guest list included: Scream‘s David Arquette, Jamie Kennedy, and Lee Waddell; Cabin Fever‘s Eli Roth, Cerina Vincent, and Jordan Ladd; Terrifier‘s Damien Leone, David Howard Thornton, Lauren Lavera, Elliott Fullam, and Amelie McLain; Halloween‘s Nick Castle,...

Strange Darling Breakout Star Willa Fitzgerald Discusses Her Role in the Twisty Thriller (Interview)
The new romantic thriller Strange Darling is filled with A-list names like Kyle Gallner (Scream), Ed Begley Jr., and Barbara Hershey — not to mention Giovanni Ribisi behind the camera as a producer and the director of photography. However, the true highlight of the film is Willa Fitzgerald (The Fall of the House of Usher), whose breakout performance in the lead role is utterly captivating.
We at FandomWire got the opportunity to speak with Willa Fitzgerald about her role in Strange Darling and why she thinks it’s such a unique specimen in the horror genre. Check out the full interview below!

After premiering at Fantastic Fest last fall, the romantic thriller Strange Darling has quickly become one of the buzziest indies of the summer. Starring Kyle Gallner (Scream) and Willa Fitzgerald as a couple whose one-night stand turns into something sinister, it’s a twisty, beautifully shot, and exquisitely fun time at the movies.
We at FandomWire got to speak with Strange Darling writer-director Jt Mollner and producer/director of photography Giovanni Ribisi (whom you might recognize as an actor from films like Avatar and Lost in Translation) about the film, its structure and style, and Ribisi making the jump from being an actor to becoming a cinematographer. Jt Mollner’s romantic thriller Strange Darling is the type of movie that is best experienced knowing as little as possible. In fact, you probably shouldn’t even be reading this review. Take it from us: it’s a good movie — a lean, entertaining 96-minute thriller. Go watch it. But if you need more convincing as to why Strange Darling is one of this year’s finest indie gems, we’ll oblige.
Strange Darling Review
The film follows a man and a woman who get together for what seems like a relatively standard one-night stand, only for it to intersect with a serial killer’s vicious murder spree. From the first shots, you might think this is just another ‘70s thriller/Texas Chain Saw homage/rip-off, but as the story unfolds, it becomes clear that Mollner has crafted a much more exciting experience for audiences.

Beth (Courtney Halverson) and Jay (Mark Famiglietti) want to celebrate a one-year anniversary of Beth’s cancer remission. Apparently, neither of them is acquainted with horror classics, so they decide to go on a camping trip to the woods. Everyone familiar with the genre can easily imagine about a dozen different scenarios of how things might go wrong, and here Consumed offers its biggest (honestly - its only) surprise by introducing two menaces at once. First, Beth makes a gruesome discovery in the woods, and soon a skin stealing creature attacks the couple. Then, they are saved by a brooding, silent man (Devon Sawa) with a rifle. Valuable...

The horror genre has continued to remain a crucial part of the filmmaking industry. Looking back at two of the most iconic films –The Blair Witch Project (1999) and Cloverfield (2008), they had one particular factor in common: both these movies were filmed with found-footage technique.
A still from The Blair Witch Project (1999) | Haxan Films
It is a part of the filmmaking technique where the story is presented as if it was recorded by the characters in the story. Although these movies garnered critical and commercial success, the filmmaking technique ended up troubling audiences, which could have easily sunk their reception.

Finding strength when you feel most afraid isn’t easy, but that’s exactly what Beth endeavors to do in the new wilderness thriller Consumed. Directed by Mitchell Altieri from a script by David Calbert, the film tells the story of Beth and her husband Jay hiking through dense forest to celebrate her cancer going into remission. Their trip takes a dark turn though when something monstrous lurks in the trees, putting their lives at risk.
We meet Beth struggling to reclaim her sense of vitality after intensive medical treatment left her weakened. She pushes onward despite her fatigue, determined to make the most of this second chance. But the deep scars of her illness remain, manifesting as nightmares of claws tearing into her chest. When strange events in the woods threaten to cut short their escape from reality, Beth must dig deep within to find reserves of bravery she didn’t know she had.

Devon Sawa (Final Destination) is enough to pique horror fans’ interest in any indie project, especially if it comes from filmmakers known for making fun B-movies. Watching horror movies about camping seems as much a beloved pastime as actual camping. The concept of campers being terrorized by someone or something in the great outdoors has timeless appeal. And Consumed, directed by Mitchell Altieri and written by David Calbert, boasts all the expected characteristics: a foreboding forest setting, unnatural forces hiding within nature, and people tapping into their primal instincts so they can survive. That’s all good and fine if standards for these kinds of movies are low to begin with, but for anyone hoping for a story that goes off the well-beaten path, then they might be better off looking elsewhere for their fill of camping horror.

Get obsessed with The Fanatic (Moose), an indie thriller directed by Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst, now streaming on Screambox.
In the film, Moose (played by John Travolta) gets cheated out of meeting his hero, Hunter Dunbar. Moose then hunts down Dunbar to get the celebrity interaction he feels he deserves.
“Harmless at first, Moose’s actions begin to take a dark turn. Against the advice of his friend Leah (Ana Golja), Moose begins to make frequent visits to his hero’s private home. As the visits continue to escalate, Dunbar finds himself in increasing danger.”
The story was allegedly inspired by a real-life fan who pursued Durst many years ago and looks to be slightly inspired by Stephen King’s Misery.

Trapped between a madman (played by Sawa) seeking revenge and a skin-stealing monster, a married couple must find the strength to fight and make it out of the woods alive. There's a nice cosmic sci-fi horror tinge to this trailer, with a creepy tease of the gross as monster that's in it. // Continue Reading ›...
