“Big Little Lies” Season 3 is still in the works, but the holdup is Liane Moriarty. Reese Witherspoon revealed as much during a recent interview with E! News.
“We’re waiting for Liane Moriarty. She’s going to be turning in something very soon. We’re back to the original author and we’re going to go back to the original characters,” Witherspoon said during a red carpet. “It’s exciting, too, because I think the kids are probably a little bit older now.”
Witherspoon admitted that she doesn’t know if the ages of the children will impact this new installment. The star also confirmed that Nicole Kidman is still interested and involved.
In fact, it was Kidman who first revealed that a third season was possible. Last November during a Q-and-a at the Cme Group Tour Championship, Kidman said, “I love ‘Big Little Lies’ … We will be bringing you a third one,...

But before we dive in further, here is your one and only spoiler warning.
Spoiler alert! Please note that there are spoilers ahead if you missed the two-episode premiere of American Sports Story. Go stream both episodes on Hulu before reading along.

Based on the novel by Liane Moriarty, Big Little Lies was a massive hit for HBO when it first came out. Although it was initially labeled as a miniseries, the series was renewed for a second season, which was based on a novella written by Moriarty. The black comedy-drama featured a star-filled cast led by Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern, and Zoë Kravitz as the five women who get caught up in a murder investigation in California. They were joined by Meryl Streep in the second season, with supporting roles played by Alexander Skarsgård, Adam Scott, James Tupper, Jeffrey Nordling, Kathryn Newton, and Iain Armitage.
And while the series supposedly ended with Season 2, Kidman hinted, in November 2023, that a third season would be made and this has officially been confirmed by Kidman and Witherspoon in a talk the two actresses had with Vanity Fair.

The photos from CBS’s So Help Me Todd season two episode two show Todd wearing a green dragon hand puppet while the synopsis teases something nefarious might be going on in the courthouse. Directed by Nick Gomez from a script by Jamie Pachino, episode two – “Your Day in Court” – will air on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 9pm Et/Pt.
So Help Me Todd kicked off its second season by expanding its audience by 9% over the season one finale. And the first episode of season two averaged 4.77 million viewers, 5% more than its first season average, proving the network was right when it renewed the primetime drama for its sophomore season.
Oscar winner Marcia Gay Harden leads the cast as Margaret Wright and Skylar Astin stars as the titular Todd. Season two also features Madeline Wise as Allison, Tristen J. Winger as Lyle, Inga Schlingmann as Susan, and Rosa Arredondo as Francey.

HBO’s Big Little Lies was never supposed to be more than a limited series.
But when you have a cast as talented as this in one place and creatives behind the screen who can capitalize on what makes the show work, expansion makes sense.
But if you had told us in 2019, when Big Little Lies Season 2 took its final bow, that five years later, another season could very well be on the way, we would have been skeptical.
Yet, here we are.
Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman are bonafide TV stars and film stars, and like many other film actors, they’ve discovered the creative freedom of working on TV.

Big Little Lies could be returning for a third season. The "limited series" aired its second season in 2019, and there have been talks about making a third season since season two wrapped.
Starring Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern, Zoë Kravitz, Meryl Streep, Adam Scott, James Tupper, and Jeffrey Nordling, the HBO drama follows five ladies from Monterey, California, as they become embroiled in a murder investigation.
Season two left off with a cliffhanger, so the idea of the cast returning to pick up the storyline doesn't come as much of a surprise.

The Locksmith is a movie directed Nicolas Harvard starring Ryan Phillippe and Kate Bosworth.
This is a movie that doesn´t try or attempt to escape from the clichés it is born into.
The actors who are pretty good can´t escape from a screenplay that does not want any interpretations.

Everything in The Locksmith is something we have heard about before, from the story of the good criminal with a bad friend, but a nice guy, the ex-wife and above all, the story of a criminal forced to get involved in shady deals after leaving prison.

“The Locksmith” has the right elements for a crime thriller: an ex-con seeking revenge and being chased by a vengeful cop while trying to protect his family. Ryan Phillippe plays the title character, Miller, introduced in the middle of a robbery. Things go wrong and his cohort gets killed. Flash forward 10 years, and he’s out of prison. In the present, he reconnects with his daughter (Madeleine Guilbot) who’s in the care of her policewoman mother (Kate Bosworth). Of course he will be pulled back for one last job where things will go wrong.
Nicolas Harvard’s directorial debut is a strictly-by-the numbers crime thriller, where every plotline is gleaned from a mile away. In its straightforward story, “The Locksmith” has Miller dealing with a corrupt cop (Jeffrey Nordling), as he tries to help the sister of his slain old friend (Gabriela Quezada). Ving Rhames appears as another friend,...

Exclusive: Playwright Theresa Rebeck, who created the stage musical-themed NBC series Smash, has joined the real-life Broadway-bound musical adaptation of the 1988 film comedy Working Girl, producers announced today.
Rebeck will write the book of the musical, said producers Robyn Goodman and Josh Fiedler of Aged In Wood Productions and Kumiko Yoshii.
While Rebeck has had four plays produced on Broadway, Working Girl would mark her Broadway debut as a book writer for a musical. As previously announced, Cyndi Lauper is writing the music and lyrics, and Christopher Ashley will direct.
“Smash ignited my love of musical theater and I’ve been eager to find the right musical project since then,” Rebeck said in a statement. “I couldn’t have dreamed up a better fit than Working Girl, or better collaborators than Cyndi, Chris and this team. I can’t wait for audiences to discover...

Poor Cordell continued to seek some degree of normalcy in his life.
But the ground kept shifting under his feet on Walker Season 1 Episode 4.
This was the episode in which Emily's ghost haunted Walker the least.
But Abilene complaining about Bonham's snoring resonated with him because Emily used to snore, and Walker broke down.
Cordell was having a rocky time reintegrating himself into his children's and family's lives at home and the Rangers at work.
But Walker wasn't the only one making transitions.
His partner Micki was feeling the pressure of being "the only," as in "the only Latina" Texas Ranger, surrounded largely by white men of various ages.
So the last thing she wanted was to be made the poster girl for progressiveness among the Rangers. But that's exactly what Captain James, who had to be the only black commander in the Rangers, did to her.
He meant well.

After host four nights of the 2020 Creative Arts Emmy Awards on emmys.com, Nicole Byer was primed for, well, primetime. The fifth and final night of ceremonies was moved over to Fxx, for a two-hour broadcast.
When opening the show, Byer commented directly on her long-running stint, noting, “I am getting really good at this! I’ve not only been crushing it, I’ve been making history.”
Byer, of course, was referring to (and specifically called out) the fact that she is the first Black woman to be nominated in the reality host category. while he was in prison, Byer acknowledged that being in such a location is bad, but the “use of plexiglass as PPE is good.”
In the end, she ended up giving the award to her own show, Netflix’s “Nailed It,” though, because these were her awards and she could use her power that way.

“Will somebody give a woman a moment?!” Laura Dern’s Renata Klein roaringly implored last summer – and she got her wish, you could say. After winning Best Limited Series/TV Movie Supporting Actress for playing Renata on “Big Little Lies’” first season in 2017, Dern returns to the Emmys this year for the acclaimed HBO series, but in Best Drama Supporting Actress as she contends for its second installment. On her eighth career nomination, the actress is gunning to accrue her second victory just three years after snagging her first with a little help from her episode submission to Emmy voters, “Tell-Tale Hearts,” the season’s second outing.
When we meet Renata in the first season, she is unbridled, snooty and forthright, married to her wealthy husband Gordon (Jeffrey Nordling) and living a most luxurious lifestyle in her glamorous Monterey home. At the same time, she’s an uber-protective, concerned mother...

According to our early Emmy odds, Best Drama Supporting Actress is a race between Helena Bonham Carter (“The Crown”) and Meryl Streep (“Big Little Lies”), with defending champ Julia Garner (“Ozark”) close behind them. But I think we could be underestimating another defending champ: Streep’s “Lies” co-star Laura Dern, who’s already a winner for her role as Renata Klein. And not only has she won an Emmy for this performance, she’s fresh off of her very first Oscar win.

Game on: “The Mighty Ducks” reboot at Disney+ is a go, with Lauren Graham set to star as the new coach of the youth hockey team.
The series is set in present-day Minnesota, where the Mighty Ducks have evolved from scrappy underdogs to an ultra-competitive, powerhouse youth hockey team. After 12-year-old Evan (Brady Noon) is unceremoniously cut from the Ducks, he and his mom Alex (Graham) set out to build their own ragtag team of misfits to challenge the cutthroat, win-at-all-costs culture of competitive youth sports.
The 10-episode series will begin production this month and debut later this year on the streaming service.

Rob, the record-store-owning hero of Nick Hornby’s classic novel High Fidelity, has strong opinions on many musical subjects, particularly the making and deployment of a great mixtape. He has rules about what kinds of songs to use, in what order, and believes that structuring the playlist just the right way says more about who he is and what he cares about than anything he could say with his own words.
In the 25 years since the book was published, Hornby’s words have been used and reinterpreted plenty. There was the 2000 High Fidelity film,...

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Big Little Lies” Season 2, Episode 7, “I Want to Know,” including the ending of the Season 2 finale.]
When HBO ran the preview for the “Big Little Lies” Season 2 finale, there was a juicy little line at the start: “The lie is the friendship.” In that context-free clip, it sounded like Celeste was implying the friendship itself is a lie, but midway through Episode 7, when she says it to Madeline while trying to assuage her guilt, the line indicates these friendships were built on the lie, for better or worse; that this makeshift group of friends only really exists because they lied to cover up manslaughter.
This sort of switcheroo happens all the time — trailers tease a troubling scenario to build up anticipation, and then the final product isn’t quite what you expect — but the telling point about this pivotal moment, which sets up the group turning themselves in as the season comes to a close,...

Spoiler alert: The following contains spoilers for ‘Big Little Lies’ Season 2, episode 7.
The big question in Big Little Lies’ Season 2 finale episode “I Want to Know” was always going to be whether the Monterey Five would get busted. The answer is, sort of, but not exactly.
Then there was Celeste’s revenge in court. Would she get to keep her kids? What happened to Perry’s brother? Would Bonnie kill yet another abuser, this time in the shape of her comatose mother? What would become of the traumatized Jane? Would Renata finally lose her marbles and attack her philandering, fiscally-challenged husband? And what about Ed—would he ever lose his ‘nicest man in the world’ title? Fortunately, we were put out of our misery on all counts.

HBO’s drama series “Big Little Lies” is set in the affluent city of Monterey, California, and the production team apparently doesn’t hold back when it comes to replicating the lifestyles of the super rich. A brief scene in Season 2 featured Renata (Laura Dern) confronting her husband Gordon (Jeffrey Nordling) in the basement of their home. The room is Gordon’s man cave and features an elaborate model train set that production designer John Paino tells Vulture cost the production a sizable $30,000.
“The train was something added by David Kelley, because he wanted this guy to have a man cave,” Paino said. “When I was researching man caves, it made sense that he had a train and enjoyed collecting memorabilia. We wanted to have a really expensive train set in there to show his wealth. What would be something expensive he could lose?”

The nominations for the 2019 Emmys haven’t even been announced yet, but the 2020 season is already in full swing and has seen some of its first contenders grace the screen, like HBO’s “Big Little Lies,” which returned for its second season after a two-year hiatus on June 9. Now five episodes in, the season is already filled with many memorable, high-caliber performances from the star-studded cast, including newest addition Meryl Streep, but it’s Laura Dern as Renata Klein who is proving to be one of this season’s biggest scene-stealers.
When we first meet Renata last season, she’s a snooty and unbridled, yet powerful and determined woman. Scenes such as her condescendingly treating Jane (Shailene Woodley) like a nanny because of her appearance, or her repeatedly pointing to Ziggy (Iain Armitage) during a season-long quest to seek out her daughter Amabella’s (Ivy George) bully, sometimes made her tough to swallow.

‘Big Little Lies’ Review: ‘The End of the World’ Approaches, as Does Season 2’s Make or Break Moment
[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Big Little Lies,” “The End of the World” — Season 2, Episode 3.]
Meryl Streep isn’t just the enticing new cast member to “Big Little Lies” Season 2; she’s carrying the entire plot on her shoulders. So far, that’s been a blessing, as Streep’s attentive and rich performance makes any time spent with the mourning Mary Louise pure pleasure. But in Episode 3, “The End of the World,” it’s also clearer than ever that she’s the only one driving any narrative momentum. What writer David E. Kelley and director Andrea Arnold do with her dogged pursuit of the truth will be the make or break moment for the series. As we approach the midway point, this latest hour shows how enjoyable and affecting this new “Big Little Lies” can be, while still repeating the same beats shown previously.

Meryl Streep has landed in Monterey and she wants answers.
The new trailer for the hotly anticipated second season of HBO’s “Big Little Lies” gives a glimpse at her character’s trying to learn the truth, showing Streep bluntly interrogating her on-screen daughter-in-law Nicole Kidman about the untimely death of her son with a steely calm and a deeply accusatory sigh.
We also see the Monterey Five attempting to return to their normal lives consumed by petty parental drama, while simultaneously harboring a dark secret.
