Potsch Boyd (aka John J. D. Power) was born in Munich, Germany. His early education included German schools and military base high schools. He attended Arkansas State University, Jonesboro, before moving to Los Angeles. For 5 years, he worked in Art Department on commercials, music videos and movies until he redirected his focus to the other side of the camera. Two years later, he graduated from the Stella Adler Academy of Acting in Hollywood, CA.
Potsch Boyd worked in independent films and non-union projects until a McDonald's commercial featuring a dance move he created secured him union status. Memorable performances as the Mennonite priest who married Dwight and Angela on The Office and the nurse sentenced to death for attempting to kill Spencer on Criminal Minds gained him some notoriety.
As well as a short stint as the spokesperson for Dewars whiskey, Potsch is most well known as the spokesperson for Chevy's long running, award winning commercial campaign "Real People. Not Actors." Where he interviewed, prank-ed and surprised "real people" with everything from bears to alligators and a stampede of trucks in order to present Chevy's newest vehicles and features.
