Mikael Chr. Rieks, born September 6th 1969 in Slangerup, Denmark, to TV
producer Margit Rieks and Journalist Carl-Otto Rieks. After graduated
from the Copenhagen Media and Television school in 1992, Rieks has been
a leading TV and Documentary Producer in Denmark for the last 12 years.
Working for the two public service broadcasters DR and TV2, he has
produced a long line of international TV formats including "The Power
of the Spirits", "On the Edge of the World", "FC Nerds", "Grompy Old
Men" and "Love Camp". Rieks joined the film producer team at Nordisk
Film in 2003, where he produced the documentaries Overcoming (Tómas
Gislason, 2005) and Ghosts of Cité Soleil (Asger Leth, 2006) and the
feature film Karla's World (Charlotte Sachs Bostrup, 2007). In 2008 he
founded the company Koncern Film with his new partners at Koncern TV- &
Filmproduktion A/S, grounded in the 1970's ideology of a united spirit.
With a number of projects in the pipeline, Rieks is heading for the
forefront of Danish Film. The company's inaugural production is a
debuting feature film by Martin Zandvliet, Applause (2009).
