On the Paramore deep cut “Big Man, Little Dignity,” Hayley Williams takes aim at men who are rarely ever held accountable for their actions. “I memorized all your lies,” she sings on the bridge. During the band’s performance of the song at last weekend’s iHeartRadio Music Festival, the front woman delivered an impassioned speech criticizing Donald Trump and warning fans about Project 2025. Elon Musk and other Maga figures have since accused her of being “just another puppet of the machine” for having a written version of the speech on standby,...

In the four years since his 2020 election loss, Donald Trump has continued to bolster false claims that widespread election fraud was the cause of his demise. Now, as early and mail-in voting opens up in several states that will help decide the 2024 election, the former president is ramping up his fear mongering over bogus claims of fraud and subterfuge.
Earlier this month, Trump vowed to prosecute “Lawyers, Political Operatives, Donors, Illegal Voters, & Corrupt Election Officials,” and anyone else involved “in unscrupulous behavior” linked to alleged voter fraud.

Shark Tank has a reputation for taking bold calls (Surprise! Surprise!). That is what the Sharks are for, after all. The show wouldn’t work if they were not willing to take the risks. But even the iron-hearted lose heart time and again.
Often the Sharks find some potential red flags to dissuade them from pursuing a deal. There might be many reasons that they’re out. And Michael Elliot’s Hammer & Nails was one such unlucky project, which couldn’t lure the likes of Mark, Daymond, Kevin, Lori, and Robert. But as we would later find out, that wasn’t the end of the road for him.

Over the years, Shark Tank has provided a platform for numerous business ventures to prove their mettle, investing as much as $150 million in close to 500 pitches.

Mark Cuban is a man of many talents; he’s a television presenter, businessman, and one of the main “Sharks” on the American show Shark Tank. From a very young age, Cuban was interested in business, and from selling garbage bags door to door to now owning an NBA team, he’s surely come a long way. But while his business ideas are top-notch, what’s also interesting about him is how well he can annoy Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

Elon Musk has backed down from his battle with Brazilian lawmakers, installing a legal representative in the country in compliance with court orders.
Previously, Brazil’s supreme court blocked users of the platform until Musk followed rules including: appointing a legal representative in the country, paying outstanding fines and removing user accounts considered to be a threat to democracy.
The Guardian newspaper reports that Musk, who in retaliation closed down X’s offices in the country, meaning it was without the required legal representation, has now installed a new official Rachel de Oliveira Conceicao.
In April, Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes ordered the removal of more than 100 social media accounts questioning the result of the country’s presidential election in 2022, and whether the former far-right president Jair Bolsonaro had really lost. When Musk objected, reiterating that he was a champion of free speech, Moraes ordered Brazil’s mobile and...

The original "The Twilight Zone," created by Rod Serling and broadcast on CBS from 1959-1964, is quite simply one of the greatest television series in the history of the medium. It has been incredibly influential in so many areas, from television itself (providing a sterling template for the anthology series), to sci-fi and horror in general, to even popularizing its title into a catch-all slang term for the strange and unusual. Serling not only gathered the cream of the crop of then-up-and-coming genre writers, but he also put his own imitable talents to use, writing the bulk of the series' 156 episodes and establishing the entire series' tone and style.
While the anthology, one-story-per-episode structure of "The Twilight Zone" allowed the series to avoid many of the usual pitfalls of long-running lightly- or heavily-serialized shows, it doesn't mean that the show was at the top of its game for its entire run.

Two major broadcast and cable industry groups are calling on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to ditch a proposal that would require political ads airing on television to include a conspicuous disclosure if their spots include material that was produced using artificial intelligence tools.
The proposal, first released by the FCC in July, is meant to crack down on the use of so-called “deepfake” technology that could mislead voters into thinking a candidate or other official said or did something that they, in fact, did not do or say.
The FCC said the use of artificial intelligence tools by political candidates and campaigns can be a benefit — it can help smaller campaigns and candidates “with limited financial resources…reach larger audiences.” But the agency said the growing trend of “deepfakes” can sow “confusion and distrust among the voting public” through material misrepresentations.

In late August, Bloomberg reported rumors that electric automaker Tesla plans to reveal its forthcoming autonomous robotaxi — expected to be called the Cybercab — on Oct. 10 at the Warner Bros. studio lot in Burbank. This vehicle will reportedly be purpose-built to function solely as a self-driving cab. As such, it will not contain an accelerator, brake pedals or a steering wheel, and will be hailed via a special Tesla app. A week or so ago, sources shared an image of a small, canary-yellow vehicle trolling the Warners lot, tailed by Tesla production vehicles, leading some to suggest it was a camouflaged robotaxi.
Overstatements, obfuscations and broken promises regarding the unveiling and production of future Tesla products — a “semi” tractor-trailer, a new sporty roadster, an entry-level vehicle, this robotaxi — are so frequent as to be standard operating procedure. Gen Z‘s relationship with platforms like TikTok is more complicated than it seems at first glance. In the past three weeks, two different statistical studies have drawn drastically different conclusions about the cohort born between 1997 and 2012.
One report, from Fiverr, found that Gen Z’s TikTok Shop usage is set to go up during the upcoming holiday season. The other, conducted by The Harris Poll, revealed that many Gen Z respondents wish apps like TikTok, Snapchat, and X had never been developed.
According to the Fiverr data, TikTok Shop is starting to achieve saturation in the U.S. market nearly two years after its initial launch in that region. 54% of U.S. Gen Z respondents indicated that they would only use TikTok Shops to find gifts this holiday season. Approximately one-third of respondents plan to shop through Facebook and Instagram ads, and 24% claimed they will consult their favorite influencers for purchasing advice.

Updated, with governor signing additional legislation: California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed two bills today designed to give greater protections to performers and others over the use of their digital likenesses during their lives and to their estates.
Newsom signed the legislation at the Los Angeles headquarters of SAG-AFTRA, which has been one of the major champions of the new laws.
“We’re making sure that no one turns over their name, image and likeness to unscrupulous people without representation or union advocacy,” Newsom said.
Ab 1836 expands the scope of the state’s postmortem right of publicity, including the use of digital replicas, meaning that an estate’s permission would be needed to use such technology to re-create the voice and likeness of a deceased person. There are exceptions for news, public affairs and sports broadcasts, as well as for other uses such as satire, comment, criticism and parody and for certain documentary,...

Elon Musk is widely known as a wannabe memelord who struggles with the medium no matter how many jokes he steals. All the money in the world, it seems, is no substitute for a decent sense of humor.
But until this election season, Musk’s attempts at comedy have been largely self-serving. Now, his Super Pac, the creatively-named America Pac, is spending to blast out dire memes on social media in support of former president Donald Trump as his campaign against Vice President Kamala Harris enters the home stretch.

In a recent interview with journalist Kara Swisher, Hillary Clinton accused Elon Musk of threatening to “rape” Taylor Swift.
The allegation stems from comments that the Tesla CEO and X owner made in response to Taylor’s endorsement of Kamala Harris.
“Fine Taylor … you win…I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life,” Musk wrote on the social media platform he purchased in 2022.

Taylor referenced J.D. Vance’s “childless cat lady” aspersions in her endorsement. And that seems to have inspired Musk’s cat comment.
As for the part about giving the pop icon “a baby” — well, the reasoning behind that remark is less clear and far more controversial.

Elon Musk‘s tumultuous takeover and rebranding of Twitter — now X — played out in very public fashion: the $44 billion offer, an attempt to walk it back, and a lawsuit that forced Musk to complete the deal were followed by massive layoffs, a spike in misinformation and extremism on the platform, botched updates, and the return of notorious bad actors whose accounts had been permanently suspended — as well as an exodus of the advertisers that account for the site’s revenue.

Hillary Clinton is being deemed “Mother” after praising Taylor Swift for publicly endorsing Kamala Harris for president.
The former U.S. Secretary of State and Democrat presidential nominee is sharing her thoughts on the timing of Swift’s endorsement for Harris.
“The fact that it happened right after the debate and just added to Kamala’s momentum must have just set them all off,” Clinton said on the podcast On with Kara Swisher. “Taylor Swift brings an unusual impact to an endorsement. Her fanbase is so intense and incredibly influenced by her.”
Clinton didn’t stop there and went on to praise Swift for standing up for herself and said she admired her resilience.

Kamala Harris sat down today in Washington D.C. with the Teamsters’ leadership and members for what could be the precursor to an endorsement for the vice president from the powerful union.
The meeting was behind closed doors, with the VP exiting the 1.3 million-strong union’s 25 Louisiana Ave. building by a side entrance at 1:57 p.m. Et.
While there has been talk for over a week that the Democratic presidential candidate would meet with Teamsters chief Sean O’Brien and the union’s board, nothing was on Harris’ schedule for today. “The Vice President will be in Washington, DC where she will receive briefings and conduct internal meetings with staff. These meetings will be closed press,” last night’s White House guidance for Harris obliquely said. “Then, at 1:30 Pm Et the Vice President will participate in a campaign meeting. Elon Musk has deleted an X post in which he claimed that “no one is even trying to assassinate Biden/Kamala,” contending that his message was a joke and taken out of context.
His post was just the latest in a long line of X messages seemingly designed to draw attention and outrage — while major advertisers shun the site.
Musk’s post on Sunday was in the wake of the potential assassination attempt on the life of former President Donald Trump.

It’s like Gilligan’s Island with no Gilligan. How in the world could there be Ridiculousness without Chanel West Coast (Chelsea Chanel Dudley)? Especially that laugh, which no one will replace on Ridiculousness anytime soon.
But as time went on, so did the show, and Chanel became a sort of afterthought. New guest appearances brought their own personalities, contributing to the gut-busting laugh-fest in their own unique ways.
Now, the question is different. Can Chanel West Coast survive without Ridiculousness? Obviously, unless she liquidates her assets, withdraws all her cash, and has a backyard BBQ, she’ll be fine financially.

No, what I’m talking about is her name in the TV business, specifically the reality TV business.

European Commissioner Thierry Breton, who pursued Elon Musk over content regulation on social media site platform X, has resigned from his role, accusing European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen of acting against him.
Breton was the European commissioner for the internal market for five years from December 2019, in a role that gave him oversight of the smooth and fair running of the European single market, both physical and digital.
In the latter part of this term, he had been at the forefront of enacting Europe’s Digital Services Act (Dsa), which was introduced in 2022 with the aim of creating a level playing field in Europe’s digital market in the face of big tech giants, as well as to moderate illegal content and disinformation.

With reports suggesting that Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Kamala Harris has led to the registration of hundreds of thousands of new voters, the reality of her impact on the election may be starting to dawn on Donald Trump.
“I Hate Taylor Swift!” Trump declared on Truth Social Sunday morning.
Trump had already antagonized Swift and her rabid fanbase by posting fake AI images falsely suggesting that the singer had endorsed him for president (which Swift subsequently cited as a reason why she chose to publicly endorse his opponent). Last week, following the endorsement, Trump’s campaign sought to further troll Swift by selling t-shirts inspired by her “Eras Tour.” Meanwhile, one of Trump’s chief supporters, Elon Musk, offered to impregnate Swift.
Now, following a series of poor polls, Trump has seemingly declared an all-out war against Swift. It’s a bold strategy, for sure, given that the 2024 election...

Tim Burton and Warner Bros.’ Beetlejuice Beetlejuice lost none of its ghostly mojo in its second weekend and easily stayed atop the box office chart with an estimated $51.6 million as it hurtles toward the $200 million mark domestically.
The pic, playing in 4,575 theaters domestically, fell just 54 percent for a 10-day domestic total of $188 million. Overseas, the sequel took in another $28.7 million from 76 markets for a lukewarm foreign tally of $76.3 million and $264.3 million globally.
Blumhouse and Universal’s new horror-thriller Speak No Evil was also good news for the early fall box office. The pic opened in second place with an estimated $11.5 million from 3,375 locations against a budget of just $15 million before marketing. The movie follows an American family as they spend the weekend at a plush British estate only to discover that their host, played by James McAvoy, has a rather sinister side. Warner Bros. Discovery and its besieged CEO David Zaslav finally have reason to celebrate in 2024.
Formed from the 2022 merger of WarnerMedia and Discovery, the company has seen its stock price plunge 70% since the deal closed, with a series of miscues culminating in the loss of NBA rights — pending a legal complaint — starting with the 2025-26 season.
In August, S&P lowered its outlook on Wbd to “negative” from “stable,” citing declines in the media company’s cable TV business that could worsen with the potential loss of NBA rights.
The streak was reversed in dramatic fashion Thursday, however, as the company announced an early carriage renewal with Charter Communications, the largest pay-tv operator in the U.S. The deal, which resolves one of several pending renewals for Wbd, will see its streaming flagship Max integrated into most of Charter’s Spectrum cable and broadband systems. After Tuesday night’s presidential debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, Taylor Swift took to Instagram to officially endorse Harris for the 2024 election. In the following 24 hours, nearly half a million people visited Vote.gov, the official government website where United States citizens can register to vote (learn more on how to register here).
As reported by Elizabeth Wagmeister (a CNN entertainment correspondent) and Betsy Klein (CNN’s Senior White House Producer), 405,999 people were referred to Vote.gov directly from Swift’s Instagram page. Such a number dwarfs the website’s usual traffic, which averages about 30,000 visitors per day.

Roy Wood Jr. is about to launch a new comedy show that will, if all goes well, feature people who aren’t supposed to be funny cracking wise on a network that isn’t known for making people laugh.
“I like comedy in tough places,” quips Wood.
He has found one. CNN — CNN? — will on Saturday launch Wood as host of “Have I Got News For You,” the U.S. version of a U.K. comedy mainstay. In “News,” two teams of comedians, newsmakers, actors and media personalities use news clips and headlines to drum up jokes and gags, all improv-style, though a round of different segments. Amber Ruffin, the actor and late-night writer, and Michael Ian Black, an actor, improv comedian and author, will serve as team captains each week.
One element that might bring the show broader appeal, says Wood, is the desire to get newsmakers — even polarizing ones — to take part.

Saturday Night, Jason Reitman’s movie about the frantic behind-the-scenes rush to mount the first ever episode of Saturday Night Live, just screened at the Toronto International Film Festival. It received a “rapturous response” from audiences, further stoking rumors that it could be a potential Oscar contender, and presumably inspiring hundreds of aspiring screenwriters to begin work on scripts about the early days of MadTV.
Saturday Night is very much a “print the legend” type of movie, crammed full of infamous SNL anecdotes, often at the expense of the facts. Although, as Reitman admitted during the film’s introduction, there wasn’t always an objective truth to draw from. After interviewing “every living person we could find who was in the building on October 11, 1975, from Lorne (Michaels) to NBC pages,” Reitman and his writing partner Gil Kenan discovered that all of the stories “contradicted each other.”

Tesla CEO Elon Musk was slammed on social media for offering singer-songwriter Taylor Swift a child after she endorsed Kamala Harris as president.
Swift announced his endorsement for Harris in an Instagram post on Tuesday night.
“Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight,” she wrote in the caption. “If you haven’t already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most. As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country.”

“Recently, I was made aware that A.I. of ‘me’ falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential run was posted on his site,” she added. “It really conjured up my fears around A.
