A onedotzero live-AV commissioned performance
As part of onedotzero's first festival at BFI Southbank, composer and musician Nitin Sawhney and Stage Designer Es Devlin united to create a performance at the BFI Imax - Europe's biggest permanent screen.
Es's vision for the performance was inspired by modern city life, which was represented through compartmentalisation. The concept was literalised by dancer Dam Van Huynh, whose pre-recorded performance was animated, creating an aesthetic to support Nitin's acoustic performance. The concept simultaneously lent itself to the theme of Nitin's album release, London Undersound.
Director Luke Halls was drafted in to make Es's ambitious concept a reality, and with the support of animator Jan Urbanowski all post production was undertaken in-house by onedotzero.
