actionAction anime usually involve a fairly straightforward story of good guys versus bad guys, where most disputes are resolved by using physical force. It often contains a lot of shooting, explosions and fighting., coming of ageIn the strict sense the Coming of age describes a young person`s transition from adolescence to adulthood. In anime the term is used in a more general sense where the protagonists have to face a challenge, make an important decision in their life, take on responsibility, or learn a lesson, and by overcoming these obstacles they reach a higher level of maturity., genetic modificationStory-wise, genetic modification is usually centred on humans, probably the most subtle and creepy way of messing with mankind. Playing with the fear of the unknown, genetically altered humans are technically a new species, that may not only surpass but actually replace unaltered humans. The level of modification will vary from subtle changes in "look" (e.g. beauty), to mental enhancements (PSI powers), to more or less atrocious adaptations to extreme environments (breath under water)., gunfightsFights where two or more parties are firing guns at one another., human enhancementHuman enhancement can take various forms: It can be something comparatively non-intrusive as a power-up drug, a form of machine implantation or cyberization ("SAC Solid State Society"), or outright - possibly atrocious - genetic manipulation ("Ao no 6-gou"). Plot-wise enhanced protagonists in anime usually have to pay a price for their enhancements, be it physical or mental., mechaMecha in Japanese basically means mechanical things; everything from an electric whisk or a car to a spaceship or a robot. Here however we limit it to the more exotic things usually referred to as mecha anime: robots, whether controlled by a human or not, and their ilk., newNot based on anything, the story is a new work, usually made up by the people involved in creating the anime. Generally if an original work (原作) credit is given, it will be to the studio, or director, or other members of the production team., piloted robotPiloted Robots are, as the name suggests, robots that cannot control themselves; they need to be steered from somewhere, this can be from a human sitting inside or a remote controlled option., post-apocalypticAfter a major cataclysm has occurred. World War III, an alien invasion, plague, global warming or some other general disaster are common themes to build a post-apocalyptic world upon, where the effects were severe enough that mankind barely survived., robot helperIn a science fiction setting, the robot helper is, in a comedic sense, pretty much equivalent to what the "cute comic relief animal sidekick" is in a fantasy setting. The usually small machine has artificial intelligence, enabling it to support their owner / master with advice or help with menial tasks.

Androids should not be considered robot helpers since these are far more complex; use the android tag instead.
, science fictionScience fiction stories usually focus on how situations could be different in the future when we are more technologically advanced; due to either our own achievements or having met with other civilizations whom we have learned from., seinenSeinen, literally "young man", is one of the main demographic classifications applied to manga, and, by extension, to anime, especially manga-based ones. As the name implies, seinen works are marketed primarily to an audience of young men; the age range commonly understood to be the target of such works goes roughly from 17 to somewhere in the 40s.
The story begins in the distant future in the far reaches of the galaxy. The Human Galactic Alliance has been constantly fighting for its survival against a grotesque race of beings called Hideous. During an intense battle, the young lieutenant Ledo and his humanoid mobile weapon Chamber are swallowed up into a distortion of time and space.

Waking from his artificially induced hybernation, Ledo realises that he has arrived on Earth, the planet on the lost frontier. On this planet that was completely flooded by the seas, people live in fleets of giant ships, salvaging relics from the seas' depths in order to survive.

Ledo arrives on one of the fleets called Gargantia. With no knowledge of the planet's history or culture, he is forced to live alongside Amy, a 15-year-old girl who serves as a messenger aboard the Gargantia fleet. To Ledo, who has lived a life where he knows nothing but fighting, these days of peace continue to surprise him.

Lisara Restall finds this highly suspicious and would prefer to continue her mission to locate the other six special people. Kaga Ryousuke thinks it is a great idea. And the rest of the male class is ecstatic, having voted for their preferred female contestants: Lisara Restall, Ookura Mina, Cule Zeria, and Fukumune Iria. All this is just a ploy by Fukumune, though, to find out who is more popular, Lisara or herself. Should Lisara win, she will get information about the other members of the Eight Misfits, and thus Lisara grudgingly accepts the challenge.

* Based on the light novel series written by Tachibana Koushi and illustrated by Tsunako.

"30 years ago a large Spacequake occurred in Eurasia. 150 million people died and human life and infrastructure was laid to waste.
Spacequakes: A destructive phenomenon of unknown origin. Like the name says, it is a void which destroys everything in and around it. An unexplainable disaster. It has been thirty years after the apocalyptic Spacequake, in the six months that followed smaller scale Spacequakes occurred all over the planet. Japan, the place where I live, also faces similar occurrences. It is known as the
South Kanto Void Zone. Twenty five years had passed without anything happening. But suddenly, five years ago, it started again, around the Tenguushi City area. This phenomenon increased by the day, and these occurrences seem to be centred around Japan."Itsuka Shidou

As another Spacequake is about to hit the town, Itsuka Shidou and his class run for the shelters. Then he remembers how insistent his sister Kotori was about their meal at a family restaurant. He rushes back out into the open, when locating her GPS signal at said restaurant, frantically rushing to save her. When a Spacequake hits nearby, Shidou discovers a non-human girl, a Spirit named Yatogami Tooka, at the epicentre of the quake. Tooka asks him if he is also here to kill her. Still confused, several girls in combat suits, the Anti-Spirits Team (AST), among them his genius of a classmate Tobiichi Origami, attack Tooka. Shidou loses consciousness, awakening in sickbay, on board the Fraxinus, a floating ship located 15,000 metres above Tenguushi City.

The commander of this ship and the ongoing operation is none other than Shidou's sister Kotori! As she explains, when the Spirits drop down to Earth, this usually ends in a Spacequake occurrence. There are only two ways to stop a Spirit: one is to go on the offensive and kill it (rarely succeeds), the other, of all things, is to go on a date with the Spirit girl... and that will be Shidou's responsibility!

* Based on a light novel series of the same name by Fushimi Tsukasa, illustrated by Kanzaki Hiro.

Kousaka Kyousuke, a normal seventeen-year-old high school student, had not gotten along with his fourteen-year-old sister, Kirino, in years. For longer than he could remember, Kirino had ignored him entirely and even abused him. It seemed their relationship would continue that way forever.

However, one day he found out that Kirino was secretly addicted to anime, manga and visual novels, including adult games, and had a gigantic collection of them all. Having discovered her secret, he was forced into a long chain of events that included helping hide it all, but would lead him to help her learn to deal with her hobby in a better way, including eventually finding real-life friends with similar tastes, and with whom he, too, would get acquainted. Several months passed.

The time spent so far may be fairly long time for their ages, but still little has changed. Kirino is still less than nice to her brother, her inability to deal with her hobby properly has not quite subsided, and she is still very passionate about her favourite anime, Hoshikuzu Witch Meruru (Stardust Witch Meruru), and her adult games. While now Kyousuke has means of reaching some of her friends, a few of whom are also his friends, her behaviour still forces him into dealing with a lot of unexpected trouble. Meanwhile, it could be said that, among her friends, there are one or two who might be interested in being more than just friends with him... Or could it?

Several hundred years ago, humans were nearly exterminated by titans. Titans are typically several stories tall, seem to have no intelligence, devour human beings and, worst of all, seem to do it for the pleasure rather than as a food source. A small percentage of humanity survived by walling themselves in a city protected by extremely high walls, even taller than the biggest of titans.

Flash forward to the present and the city has not seen a titan in over 100 years. Teenage boy Eren and his foster sister Mikasa witness something horrific as the city walls are destroyed by a super titan that appears out of thin air. As the smaller titans flood the city, the two kids watch in horror as their mother is eaten alive. Eren vows that he will murder every single titan and take revenge for all of mankind.
