Until Dawn to Get Film Adaptation from Writer of Annabelle

In recent years, there has been a huge trend in cinema for video game adaptations. Sony is the most active in this field, having already transferred several of its exclusive IPs to both movie and TV show producers. The owner of PlayStation brand, however, doesn't intend to stop there and is already planning its next project.

According to information provided by The Hollywood Reporter journalists, the franchise that will be adapted into a film next will be Until Dawn.

Released in 2015 on PS4, the game tells the story of a group of young people staying in a charming cottage in the mountains, cut off from the world. At some point, the idyllic atmosphere comes to an end, and the heroes have to fight for their lives. Every decision made by the player has consequences for the development of the story and ultimately, the ending.

The director of the upcoming show is David F. Sandberg, whose credits include, among others: Annabelle: Rise of Evil, When the Lights Go Out and two installments of Shazam. In turn, Gary Dauberman, author of the script for the horror series It and Annabelle , was appointed as screenwriter. The creator will polish the story, which was originally written by Blair Butler (Polaroid, The Invitation).

Screen Gems and PlayStation Productions will be responsible for the production.

As of now, we don't know any more specifics about the film. All we know is that the production is to be a "terrifying love letter to R-rated horror films."

So far, thanks to Sony, we have been able to watch productions such as The Last of Us, Twisted Metal, Gran Turismo and Uncharted. In addition to Untill Dawn, Ghost of Tsushima, Horizon Zero Dawn and God of War are in the queue for production.
