MAS Guidelines on Outsourcing (Banks)

The Guidelines on Outsourcing (Banks) (MAS Guidelines) set out MAS’s expectations of a bank or merchant bank that has entered into or is planning to enter into, an arrangement for ongoing outsourced relevant services. The MAS Guidelines provide specific guidance on risk management practices for outsourcing arrangements.

We have created mappings for both Google Cloud and Google Workspace to help customers understand how we can support them in meeting the MAS Guidelines’ requirements and assess us as an outsourced service provider. We have also produced a Cloud best practices for Singapore financial institutions paper detailing how Google Cloud helps FIs meet the MAS Guidelines.

MAS Notice 658 (Banks)

MAS Notice 658 sets out the requirements that a bank in Singapore has to comply with for the purposes of managing the risks associated with the bank’s outsourced relevant services. MAS Notice 658 provides specific guidance on material ongoing outsourced relevant services and outsourced relevant services that involve the disclosure of customer information.

MAS Notice 1121 (Merchant Banks)

MAS Notice 1121 sets out the requirements that a merchant bank in Singapore has to comply with for the purposes of managing the risks associated with the merchant bank’s outsourced relevant services. MAS Notice 1121 provides specific guidance on material ongoing outsourced relevant services and outsourced relevant services that involve the disclosure of customer information.

MAS Technology Risk Management Guidelines

MAS established the Technology Risk Management (TRM) guidelines (MAS TRM Guidelines), which set out risk management principles and best practices to guide financial institutions to establish sound and robust technology risk governance and oversight, as well as maintain IT and cyber resilience.

We have created mappings for both Google Cloud and Google Workspace to help customers understand how we can support them in meeting the MAS TRM Guideline requirements and assess us as an outsourced service provider. Google Cloud is committed to addressing these requirements regardless of how financial institutions choose to use our services.
