Description
English: Early-Christian marble gravestone (5th/6th c.) from Kobern-Gondorf (near Koblenz) in the Rheinisches Landesmuseum in Bonn, Germany. The inscription in Latin reads: HOC TETOLO FECET MONTANA CONIVX SVA MAVRICIO QVI VI SIT CON ELO ANNVS DODECE ET PORTAVIT ANNVS QARRANTA TRASIT DIE VIII KLIVNAS, which translates as: This grave was erected by Montana, his wife, for Mauricius, who lived with her 12 years and was 40 years old. He died on the 8th day before the calendar of June (= 25 May).
