Description |
English: Darius Kinsey (1869-1945) was a prominent photographer in the Pacific Northwest, specializing in logging photography. After five years as a photographer for the Seattle and Lake Shore Railroad Co., in 1897 he opened a photography studio in Sedro-Wooley, with his wife Tabitha working as his photography assistant. In 1906, he moved his photography studio to Seattle, but continued to document the logging industry for the next 35 years. Fifteen men, both white and Asian, sit and stand at a logging facility in this photograph. Blythe J. Pennycock, a lumberman from the Bellingham area, is one of the two men sitting in the center wearing a hat. Embossed on mount recto: Darius Kinsey, 1607 E. Alder St., Seattle, Phone East 6778.
