Synopsis for "Truth and Consequences"

Nathaniel explains to Blue Beetle, Mister Miracle, and Booster Gold of who he is, how he became Captain Atom, and his investigation to exonerate his innocence. So far, the people that Nathaniel recently met are being killed due to their ties to the Vietnam drug ring decades ago. Though the reasons for their involvement is yet known, only General Trang stands out for being the middle man for the drug ring. Aside from the Cambodian, Bolt also remains a suspect due to being employ by his unknown benefactor to kill the people in Nathaniel's court-martial and he has since escaped.

Nathaniel request his teammates' help in his investigation. At that same moment, Nathaniel receives a videotape delivered from Henry Yarrow. It is the detective's last recording as he explains to Nathaniel that he is already a dead man as his personal investigation has brought the perpetrator dangerously close to him, and he urge Nathaniel not to blame himself for his death and not to give up in finding the truth. Miracle examines the tape's recordings to find Yarrow's location and Booster instantly recognize a mountain range in the video's background to be the location of his favorite ski resort. Miracle and Booster flies off to find Yarrow while Nathaniel and Beetle remains behind.

Nathaniel then gets a phone call from General Hillary, who informs him that he received word that the Cambodian is arranging some kind of clandestine auction. After Hillary gives the address of the auction, Nathaniel and Beetle travel there.

Meanwhile, Booster and Miracle arrive at the scene of a severely burnt down cabin. The local ranger explains to them that a body likely to be Yarrow was found burned beyond recognition. Miracle scans the residues of the crime scene and turns out to be consistent with radiation from a destructive blast-barrage, thus confirming it was Bolt who killed Yarrow.

At the auction site, The Cambodian demonstrate the capabilities of X-Ionized weapons with his potential buyers: Rakish representing Queen Bee of Bialya, and Hanar representing Janwillem Kroef of South Africa. The swordsman is planning to sell them the X-Ionizer, but only one of them will have it after defeating the other in a tournament. However, Captain Atom and Blue Beetle arrive. Captain Atom resume his battle with Cambodian while Beetle deal with Hanar and Rakish. Despite their opponents wielding X-Ionized weapons, the heroes succeed in defeating them. They are then reunited with Booster and Miracle, who they tracked their location via their JLI signal devices. But The Cambodian is suddenly teleported away by his unseen ally.
