"Trinity, Part 1": Green Lantern

DCU: Trinity #1 is an issue of the series DCU: Trinity (Volume 1) with a cover date of August, 1993.

Synopsis for "Trinity, Part 1"

Green Lantern
Hal Jordan receives a signal from the Guardians about a disturbance detected on the planet Scylla. Hal finishes a job quickly and changes to his Green Lantern work clothes. Upon arrival on Scylla, Green Lantern encounters Quarra, the "Goddess of Creation," a giant woman terraforming the planet. Hal destroys the soil Quarra was cultivating, and she then unleashes her full power on him, leaving Green Lantern buried underground.

By the time Hal manages to dig out of the dirt, Quarra is already gone to the "home-place." Hal then travels to Oa, seeking an audience with the Guardians. Upon hearing the name of Quarra, the Guardians tremble, fearing the "return of the Triarch" and the "end of all Maltusian races," much to Hal's surprise. The masters order the confused Green Lantern to read the Book of Oa, where he learns about the story of the Triarch of Maltus, three gods who slain their father, Daalon, and then disappeared, vowing to return to lay waste to Maltus and remake the universe.

With the history lesson over, the Guardians command Hal to go to Maltus and observe the Triarch without interfering or engaging in combat. On his way, Hal shudders to think how these gods can strike so much fear into the Guardians.

Darkstars
A squad of Darkstars faces another giant of the Triarch on Elyrion. One by one, the Darkstars fall, leaving Rayyana to fight alone until Ferrin Colos and his deputies arrive. However, reinforcements arrive too late, and Rayyana gets badly injured. Colos, enraged, charges against the giant. The three remaining Darkstars work together to draw his attention and attack his blind spots. However, the giant disappears out of thin air. Before moving on and investigating the event, Colos and his deputies bury the dead Darkstars, determined to avenge them.

L.E.G.I.O.N.
The L.E.G.I.O.N. arrives on Maltus to set up a station of "critical importance to Vril Dox II." Part of their contract, besides bringing the law, is to investigate and learn more about the race that sprung the Guardians and the Controllers. Among some ancient ruins, a team finds an engraved coin with an image of the Triarch. Suddenly, thunder flashes in the sky, and a giant, proclaiming himself Tzodar the Destroyer, appears in the middle of the city. After the diplomatic approach fails, the forces of the L.E.G.I.O.N. attack the invader. Tzodar strikes back, putting innocent lives in danger. Shortly after, Tzodar's siblings join him, and the Triarch is ready to cleanse the planet and, through it, the universe.
