The Ku Klux Klan, usually shortened to the KKK, is a domestic right-wing terrorist group in the United States based in white supremacy, whose primary targets are all non-white ethnical groups, as well as immigrants, leftists, homosexuals, Catholics, Muslims, atheists, and abortion providers.
History
The first Klan was founded in Pulaski, Tennessee, on December 24, 1865, by six former officers of the Confederate army, shortly after the Civil War, during the Reconstruction of the South.
Watchmen (TV Series)
In 1921, the KKK attacked a prosperous, predominantly Black neighborhood in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in an event known as the Tulsa race massacre. Among the survivors were a young Will Reeves and June Abar; among the victims were Reeves' parents O.B. Williams and Ruth Robeson as well as June's parents.
Overtime, though the Klan remained active, an offshoot of white supremacists became active in the mid-1900s using the codename Cyclops. Their specific mission was to use brainwashing technology in movie theaters to covertly cause Black civilians to massacre each other. Though this operation was halted by Hooded Justice, Cyclops remained dormant, along with the Klan.
At some point, Judd Crawford's grandfather was a member of the Klan and Tulsa's police chief at the same time. In 2019, Crawford continued to keep his grandfather's robes in a hidden compartment of his house to honor him.
