Maya is an Indian super-hero with elemental powers. This includes the ability to generate a large amount of water or fire usually controlled through a mystical bow. Her powers manifested at a young age, and her parents gave her to a cult that believed she was the reincarnation of Hindu god Shiva. Eventually she escaped to London when she realized the cult was evil and planning to sacrifice her. She has been a member of Justice League Europe. Maya was created by Gerard Jones and Ron Randall, first apparing in Justice League Europe #47 (1993).
There is an unrelated Maya considered the spirit of the Mother Box in Fourth World mythology. This version of Maya was created by J.M. DeMatteis and Paris Cullins, first appearing in Forever People (Volume 2) #2 (1988).
