Philip Russel is an American comic book creator. He began his career in 1972 working for Marvel Comics on their title Chamber of Chills. His first work for DC Comics was in 1978 in the Batman Family title.

His work has won multiple Harvey and Eisner Awards.

Personal History

Russel started working as Dan Adkins assistant in 1972. Later he collaborated with Don McGregor writing some of his first works. He was the first mainstream comic book creator to come out as openly gay.
