Superman Giant (Volume 2) #1 is an issue of the series Superman Giant (Volume 2) with a cover date of February, 2020. It was published on December 14, 2019.

Synopsis for "Power Play"

As two children go away after watching a news broadcast about Superman preventing a road tunnel from collapsing, the Parasite sucks the power from the display screens on the street. At The Daily Planet, Lois is working on her news report late into the night and Clark realizes it'll take her a long time to finish. Jimmy draws their attention to a news broadcast of the city's electricity being sucked back to the power plant which causes an overload, resulting in a city-wide blackout.

Clark flies off to investigate and Lois convinces Perry to let her go out and cover the story. Perry also orders Jimmy to go with her. Parasite while sucking the electricity from the power station gets attacked by Superman, who calls out to Rudy to overcome the hunger and promises to help him. Parasite however refuses and loses his power after the station explodes, causing him to run away.

In downtown Metropolis, Jimmy's screams due to Lois' reckless driving causes Clark to check on him and he narrates that Parasite is responsible for the blackout as well as the explosion of the power station. As the people start worrying, Superman instructs them to help each other however they can so they can get through it together. Lois meanwhile figures out the only place Parasite might go after now will be Metropolis General Hospital due to the generators Luthor donated.

Superman stops Parasite from sucking the power form the hospital generators and flies him to the dark side of the moon, leaving Parasite with him as the only source for absorbing power. As the two battle, Parasite loses his absorbed power which allows Superman to subdue him. Clark states that if Rudy absorbs his energy, he won't be able to return to Earth. He promises to help resolve his condition, but states he has to be contained in the meanwhile for others' safety.

Next day at the Daily Planet, Perry chides Lois and Jimmy for publishing an article about Superman inspiring people to help each other, stating he wants a story that covers that covers something dangerous. As they oppose him, he tells them both to get out and Clark guesses what happened before leaving with Lois. Meanwhile, Luthor is upset the Daily Planet didn't report about him having the power plant quickly repaired and promises to show Superman that he's the most powerful man in Metropolis.

Synopsis for "Looking Glass"

This story is reprinted from Supergirl (Volume 5) #54.

Bizarro Supergirl is ripping Metropolis apart. Jimmy Olsen saves a boy from being killed by an exploding bus. He manages to take a picture of Bizarro and send it to the Planet before being subdued by her. Meanwhile, Lana has called Kara and is trying to convince her to change into Supergirl and save the day. Cat grant overhears the conversation and realizes that Lana and Supergirl have a close relationship. Realizing she can't just quit being who she is, Kara changes into her Supergirl costume and flies off to save the day. While she smiles for the first time in months. The young boy Jimmy saved early on is led into a negative realm by a Metropolis 'police man'. Bizarro and Supergirl fight and she is revealed to have the opposite powers as Kara. BizarroGirl uses the opposite of X-ray vision and turns Supergirl into a rock statue.[1]

Synopsis for "Brainiac, Part I: First Contact"

This story is reprinted from Action Comics #866.

On Krypton 35 years previously, General Zod and Ursa witness an alien force of robotic enemies arriving and slaughtering innocents. The robots surround the city of Kandor and unleash an energy force-field. It encases Kandor and before Zod can stop it, the city is gone along with their attackers.

In the present day, the Daily Planet is having a staff meeting and Jimmy Olsen is late. For the benefit of newer staff, a roll call goes out via refreshment orders:

Steve irks the entire staff with his obnoxious attitude until Clark swiftly teaches him a lesson by secretly breaking the chair leg with his heat vision, causing Steve to fall over. Cat mentions she gets a column on Supergirl coming up, and flashes her cleavage at Clark, commenting on her surgery. Clark doesn't take the bait, though, and Lois is unimpressed. They leave the meeting and recount how Cat left the Daily Planet and lost her son, and now she is using her sexuality as a mask to cover up her feelings.

Clark's super-hearing tells a flaming object from space is heading to Earth. He quickly broadens his shoulders, flips his hair and rips his shirt to perform his 'other job'.

Meanwhile in Smallville, Jonathan Kent is busily posting a fence around the farm. Martha Kent waves him inside the house for breakfast. The pair don't notice the weathervane suddenly spinning.

Superman flies upward and catches the flying object. It rapidly transforms into the skeletal form of one of Brainiac 1.0's foot soldiers. The robot fails in its attempt to lobotomize Superman. Ripping off an arm, Superman sends the battle into a nearby river. The robot shields itself and scans Clark's body. A tiny droplet of blood appears from the point it had tried to hurt Superman, enough for a DNA scan. This happens in a split second for it powers down as Clark is about to administer a devastating blow. Instead he watches it power down and crumple, leaving him puzzled as to Brainiac's plot.

In space, Brainiac travels in a frozen old star cruiser shaped like a skull. Dead for some time it suddenly powers up with the transmitted data. The ice melts, the lights power up, and the cruiser hums to life. The tri-circle blinks on revealing a chamber full of bottled cities, almost like lanterns lighting the room. Central to the room is a metallic structure connected to a comatose Brainiac within a Coluan. The data extracts and notifies the ship that it has encountered a Kryptonian and attempt 242 is now in progress.

Synopsis for "Escape from Dinosaur Island"

This story is reprinted from Superman (Volume 4) #8.

In the Fortress of Solitude, Superman and Superboy work towards building a self-controlled flying saucer for Superboy's upcoming science fair. After some work, the saucer is completed but then it activates on its own and flies towards the Fortress' main computer, absorbing some its crystals and acquiring a cubical shape. The cube malfunctions and engulfs Superman, Superboy and Krypto in a strange light.

As the light disappears, the three find themselves stranded on a mysterious island. The cube flies towards the sea and Superman attempts to catch it before he gets suddenly eaten by a giant fish. Fortunately, Superman is able to escape by causing it a mild heart injury with his super strength. The heroes explore the island, coming across several WWII equipment. This means they are stranded in some Pacific island.

First, they attempt to leave the island by flight but Superman's senses are unable to pick up any traces of life or civilization for miles. Suddenly, they are attacked by pterodactyls. Working together, the Smiths defeat their opponents but are forced back into the ground. They keep exploring the jungle until they find some graves and military equipment. Deep inside a cave, they find a message carved into a wall; a story dedicated to the Losers.
