Wegthor was Krypton's principal moon and the site of the first Kryptonian lunar colony. The other moon was Mithen.
History
The Moon was first imaged by Kal-El's ancient ancestor Sul-El. While seeing markings on both moons, he found Wegthor's markings hazy and surmised that it may have an atmosphere.[1] It proved suitable enough for a lunar colony.
The moon and its 500 colonists were accidentally destroyed when Kryptonian scientist Jax-Ur tested a nuclear missile designed to destroy a meteor. As a result Jax-Ur was the first Kryptonian imprisoned in the Phantom Zone.
After its destruction, Wegthor's debris formed rings around Krypton.[1]

Notes
- Yuda was the Kryptonian "Mistress of the Moons" Mithen and Wegthor, presiding symbolically over ancient Kryptonian wedding rites.
- Argo City resident Lar-On was changed into a werewolf by the memory of Krypton's moons, which his father had forbade him to visit.[3]
