"A giant frozen lake. There is an abundance of life here, and giant fish can be found swimming under the lake's frozen surface." |
Darlinge Polynya (ダーリンジ氷湖 Dārinji Hyōko) is a glacial region in the northern area of Earth. It only in appears in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot.
Overview[]
It is a lake in the North Mountains Area that is nearly frozen over due to extremely cold temperatures, and is home to the nearby Bells Village. Though the water temperature is so cold it would freeze a normal person, none of the Z Fighters (playable or support) will freeze if they go for a swim. The lake fishing spots are home to Azure Catfish, Golden Trout, and Turquoise Trout. Additionally, Great Energetic Fish and Golden Energetic Fish can be caught while swimming in the lake. Meaty River Snails can be found in the lake and alone its shoreline.
The lake is first visited during "Android Terror Arrives Episode 4" of the game's Cell Saga when the North Mountains Area is unlocked. The lake separates Bells Village from the area where Dr. Gero's Lab and the ruins of Muscle Tower (which act as a destructible enemy base for the North Mountains Area) are located. Bells Village is located on the east side of the lake while Dr. Gero's Lab and Muscle Tower are located on its west side. After Android 17 and Android 18 defeat Vegeta, Future Trunks, Piccolo, and Tien, Future Trunks and Krillin can find Eighter on the lake's west side confronting some poachers who have been killing local dinosaurs for their fangs to sell for Zeni, with Eighter noting that there aren't many dinosaurs left in the North Mountains Area as people like them have been killing too many of them. Eighter notes that sometimes the locals have to kill dinosaurs to survive or for food, but that killing them for money is wrong. However his words fall on deaf ears and the poachers reveal they already sent out their hunter robots and they are probably busy slaughtering dinos as they speak. Future Trunks is disgusted by the poachers behavior leading to the R&D Sub-Story: "Your Friend Is My Friend", where Future Trunks approaches Eighter and says he will deal with the hunter robots on the lake southwest side and its northeast side near Bells Village. After defeating the hunter robots, Future Trunks returns to Eighter and the two poachers who are shocked to learn Trunks defeated and run off swearing they'll get him back someday. Eighter thanks Future Trunks for his help protecting the local Megalosaurus population. While talking to Eighter, he mentions knowing Goku and Trunks is happy to have been able to help Eighter while Eighter is happy to have made a new friend.
