Magic Carpet (魔法の絨毯 Mahō no Jūtan) is a carpet used by Mr. Popo to travel quickly to distant places.
Overview[]
It is able to move at incredible speeds, such as traveling from West City to Yunzabit Heights in a matter of seconds, a distance that would have taken a vehicle such as an airplane hours to traverse. When not in use, Mr. Popo keeps his Magic Carpet with him rolled into a ball.[2]
Usage[]
Mr. Popo's carpet was first seen while Goku was training at The Lookout for the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament in Dragon Ball. Mr. Popo later used it to bring Bulma to the location of the Nameless Namekian's Spaceship. Popo uses his Magic Carpet to flee when Garlic Jr. attacks The Lookout, but he is stopped by the Spice Boys's special Energy Web technique. He soon uses it to once again to take Kami so that he can spread the Sacred Water on Earth.
In Dragon Ball: Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans, Mr. Popo uses his Magic Carpet to tell the Dragon Team about the Destron Gas.
Video Game Appearances[]
In Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2, Magic Carpets play an effective role in dragon world by transporting characters who step on it to an unknown location on the map.
It appears in the ending credits of Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai - Another Road, where Mr. Popo is flying on it.
In Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z, Mr. Popo's carpet is an item that increases speed for one minute.
Trivia[]
- In the English dub of the third episode of Dragon Ball, Master Roshi offers a Magic Carpet to Goku for saving Turtle, however he forgets that he had left it at the cleaners and gives Goku the Flying Nimbus instead.
