The Terror of Cell
Cell has been awakened—a bioengineered monstrosity designed to become the ultimate weapon, a being that eats whole cities to grow stronger. To stop its rampage, Piccolo challenges Cell while the Super Saiyans undergo unimaginable training in a room where one year passes for every day outside. But Cell's true goal is to merge with Androids #17 and #18, which will increase its strength exponentially. As Cell becomes even stronger, Piccolo has only one chance: destroy #17 and #18 before Cell can merge with them, or no force on earth will stand a chance![1]

Son Goku was Earth's greatest hero, and the Dragon Balls—which can grant any wish—were Earth's greatest treasure. Three years ago, Earth was visited by Trunks, a time traveler from the future. Trunks warned Earth's martial artists that the world would soon be attacked by terrifying androids—and Goku would develop a deadly virus! With Goku sick, the other heroes were forced to fight the androids by themselves, and lost. While our heroes were licking their wounds "another" strange enemy appeared, a monster which announced its presence by eating the entire population of a town! The heroes rushed to the scene, and Piccolo was the first to arrive…[1]
Volume introduction by Akira Toriyama[]
"Before I knew it, my workroom turned into a closet. Magazines, plastic models, model guns, air guns… There's more and more of them! They're not going away! So I'm losing space to walk around. Nowadays, I only go into my workroom once a week, on the day my assistant Matsuyama comes over. Most of the time I work in the living room with my kids interrupting me all the time."[1]
