Thomas Matthew Crooks (September 20, 2003 – July 13, 2024) was an American man who attempted to assassinate Donald Trump, the 45th president of the United States and the presumptive Republican Party nominee for the 2024 presidential election at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania 6–7 minutes into Trump's speech.[1][2]

Biography

Thomas Matthew Crooks was from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. Crooks attended Bethel Park High School and graduated in 2022.[3][4]

Crooks was a registered Republican,[5][6][7][2] and his voter registration was active since 2021.[5] On January 20, 2021, at the age of 17, he donated $15 to ActBlue, an organization dedicated to improving turnout among Democratic Party voters.[3][4][2]

Crooks was killed by a sniper from the United States Secret Service Counter Assault Team.[8][4] He had no known criminal record.[5][9]
