David Leonhardt of The New York Times wrote that "Gaza officials and their supporters have three main arguments, all circumstantial."
First, Palestinians have noted that the al-Ahli Arab Hospital was hit by rocket fire three days earlier, and staff had received text messages and phone calls demanding that the hospital be evacuated. Anglican Archbishop Hosam Naoum said the Israeli military had telephoned and texted the hospital at least three times since 14 October, asking patients and staff to leave. He said these warnings were specific to the hospital, and not part of Israel's general push to have civilians leave northern Gaza: "There were specific warnings to get out of the building."
Second, Israel has been dishonest about civilian casualties before, such as in the death of Palestinian-American journalist Shireen Abu Akleh. Third, Israeli government officials have put out inconsistent information regarding the hospital explosion, including a video of a rocket barrage showing a time stamp well after the time of the explosion. Ghazi Hamad, a Hamas spokesperson, indicated that Hamas would welcome an independent investigation into the explosion by the United Nations.

On 16 October, doctors warned of an impending disease outbreak due to hospital overcrowding and unburied bodies.[3] The same day, the World Health Organization stated there were only "24 hours of water, electricity and fuel left" before "a real catastrophe."[4] On 18 October, the United States vetoed a UN resolution urging humanitarian aid to Gaza.[5] The World Health Organization stated the situation in Gaza was "spiralling out of control."[6]
The Gaza Health Ministry said the explosion was caused by an Israeli airstrike. Palestinian Islamic Jihad has denied responsibility,[34] blaming Israel for the explosion and drawing attention to the fact that Israel had also hit the hospital on 14 October and previously ordered its evacuation. Hamas stated that Israel struck the hospital as punishment for the failure to evacuate.

The economic and political impacts of inequality may include slower GDP growth, reduced income mobility, higher poverty rates, greater usage of household debt leading to increased risk of financial crises, and political polarization.[9][10] Causes of inequality may include executive compensation increasing relative to the average worker, financialization, greater industry concentration, lower unionization rates, lower effective tax rates on higher incomes, and technology changes that reward higher educational attainment.[11]
She stated that the sanctions, which usually forbid individuals from entering the US and freeze any assets linked to the country, infringe upon the rights of freedom of movement and protection against unjust property deprivation. Many foreign companies and financial institutions have gone beyond compliance measures due to their apprehension of US sanctions, further worsening the negative effects on human rights.[12]

Although there are disputes about the exact details of the attacks, a number of sources attribute responsibility to an Israeli missile strike.[19][20][21]
The Republican plan, approved by the United States House of Representatives, allocates $14.5bn in military aid for Israel. Also, Israel has received the highest amount of military assistance from the US compared to any other nation since World War II, with aid exceeding $124bn.[22]
