The Chery Tiggo 8 (Chinese: 奇瑞瑞虎8; pinyin: Qíruì Ruìhǔ 8) is a series of three-row mid-size crossover SUV produced by Chery under the Tiggo product series.[1] It is positioned between the smaller Tiggo 7 and the larger Tiggo 9. A more upclass variant with an updated styling called the Chery Tiggo 8 Plus was launched in 2020, which is marketed as the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro in overseas markets. Another newer variant with an altered styling called the Tiggo 8 Pro was introduced to the Chinese market in 2022.
In 2024, Chery introduced the Chery Tiggo 8 L, which uses a larger body and positioned between the Tiggo 8 and Tiggo 9. The model was previously introduced as the Fulwin T9 (plug-in hybrid), and the Tiggo 9 for export markets.

The production of Tiggo 8 was revealed during the 2018 Beijing Auto Show in China,[4] positioning the Tiggo 8 above the smaller Tiggo 7. Internally codenamed the T18,[1] the Tiggo 8 rides on a unibody chassis that features MacPherson struts in the front and multi-link rear suspension systems. The wheels are 18-inch size and the ground clearance metric is 200 mm (7.9 in).[5]
The engine of the Tiggo 8 is a 1.5-litre inline-four turbocharged petrol engine from the Tiggo 7 that produces 108 kW (145 hp; 147 PS) and 210 N⋅m (155 lb⋅ft; 21 kg⋅m) of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) and powerers the front wheels.[5] For the 2019 model year, a 1.6-litre inline-four direct-injection turbocharged petrol engine mated with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission developing 145 kW (194 hp; 197 PS) and 290 N⋅m (214 lb⋅ft; 30 kg⋅m) is added to the product line, badged as "290T".[6] For the 2021 model year, The 2.0T Kunpeng version badged as "390T" was introduced later, developing 187 kW (251 hp; 254 PS) and 390 N⋅m (288 lb⋅ft; 40 kg⋅m) of torque.
In late 2022, a new two-row five-seater model was launched alongside the existing seven-seater model. It is powered by a 1.5-litre inline-four SQRE4T15C turbocharged petrol engine rated at 115 kW (154 hp; 156 PS) and 230 N⋅m (170 lb⋅ft; 23 kg⋅m).[7]

Tiggo 8 Plus
In October 2020, the Tiggo 8 Plus was unveiled as a more upmarket version for the Chinese local market. In overseas markets, it is marketed as the Tiggo 8 Pro or Tiggo 8 Pro Max, the latter for the model powered with the "390T" powertrain.[8][9] The Tiggo 8 Plus sports redesigned front and rear ends with the "Life In Motion 3.0" design language and is 22 mm (0.9 in) longer and 1 mm (0.04 in) higher than the regular Tiggo 8. It is available as a 5-, 6- and 7-seater configurations with additional 18" and 19" redesigned alloys.[10] The interior features dual 12.3 in (31.2 cm) displays with the LION4.0 infotainment system and surround 8-speaker stereo systems supplied by Sony.[10]
The Tiggo 8 Plus is available with a 1.6-litre turbo engine developing 145 kW (194 hp; 197 PS) and 290 N⋅m (214 lb⋅ft) mated to a 7-speed DCT gearbox and a mild hybrid 1.5-litre turbo engine with 48V of electric power developing a combined 156 hp (116 kW; 158 PS) and 230 N⋅m (170 lb⋅ft) mated to a CVT gearbox.[10] The Tiggo 8 Plus Kunpeng edition, it is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo badged as "390T", developing 187 kW (251 hp; 254 PS) and 390 N⋅m (288 lb⋅ft; 40 kg⋅m) of torque.

Tiggo 8 Pro
The Tiggo 8 Pro is the third variant of the Tiggo 8 product series in China and was launched in May 2022. It is not to be confused with the global market Tiggo 8 Pro, which is the export name for the Tiggo 8 Plus. The Tiggo 8 Pro features a restyled front and rear end designs with an updated interior.[11] The Tiggo 8 Pro is powered by either a 2.0-litre TGDI turbo engine or a 1.6-litre TGDI turbo engine and Kunpeng DHT hybrid powertrains.

2024 facelift
At the Beijing Auto Show in April 2024, Chery introduced the 2024 version of the Tiggo 8. Marketed as the New Tiggo 8, it received new front and rear fascia, new door panels with flush door handles, and a redesigned interior.[12] At the 2024 Chery International Business Conference in Wuhu, Anhui, China in April 2024, Chery showcased an alternate export version with a revised front fascia.[13]

Australia
The Tiggo 8 Pro Max was introduced in Australia in February 2024,[14] with prices announced and sales commenced in May 2024.[15] It is available in three trim levels: Urban, Elite and Ultimate. All models were powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, mated with a 7-speed DCT. Front-wheel drive is standard on the Urban and Elite trims, while the Ultimate trim is exclusively standard with all-wheel drive.[16]
Indonesia
The Tiggo 8 Pro was introduced in Indonesia alongside the Tiggo 5x (originally introduced at the time as the Tiggo 4 Pro) and Tiggo 7 Pro in January 2022, initially with a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine.[17] It was launched alongside the Tiggo 7 Pro in 23 November 2022, as Chery's first models to the Indonesian market after a 6-year absence.[18] Sales were commenced in January 2023.[19] It is available in two grade levels: Luxury and Premium. Unlike its initial introduction, Indonesian models were powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, instead of the 1.6-litre unit.[20] It is locally assembled at Handal Indonesia Motor's facility in Bekasi, West Java.[21]
Malaysia
The Tiggo 8 Pro was launched alongside the Omoda 5 in Malaysia in July 2023, marking Chery's return to the Malaysian market. Powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and front-wheel drive, it is only available in a sole variant: Premium.[22] It is locally assembled at Inokom's facility in Kulim, Kedah.
Mexico
The Tiggo 8 Pro is sold in Mexico as the Chirey Tiggo 8 Pro Max.[23] It was launched in July 2022, alongside the Tiggo 7 Pro.[24] At launch, it is available in two trim levels: Luxury and Premium. All models were powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, with front-wheel drive is standard on the former trim, while all-wheel drive is standard on the latter.[25]
The plug-in hybrid variant, the Tiggo 8 Pro e+, powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol plug-in hybrid (PHEV), was added in July 2023.[26]
Pakistan
The Tiggo 8 Pro was launched alongside the Tiggo 4 Pro in Pakistan in March 2022.[27] It is locally assembled under license at Ghandhara Nissan's facility in Karachi. Production commenced on 31 March 2022.[28][29]
Philippines
The Tiggo 8 was launched in the Philippines in November 2019 alongside the Tiggo 2, Tiggo 5x and Tiggo 7, marking Chery's return to the Philippine market.[30] It is available in two variants: Luxury and Luxury EX. Both were powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine.[31]
The Tiggo 8 Pro was launched at the 17th Manila International Auto Show in April 2022, replacing the Tiggo 8. It is available in two engine options; a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol plug-in hybrid (PHEV).[32] The plug-in hybrid version received a new variant, marketed as the Tiggo 8 Pro e+, in March 2023.[33]
Russia
The Tiggo 8 was launched in Russia in May 2020, following delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Russia. It is available with a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine.[citation needed]
The Pro variant was launched in March 2021, positioned above the regular Tiggo 8. The Pro variant is initially available in one grade level: Prestige. It is powered by either a 2.0-litre or a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine, the latter engine option is only available in two optional packages for the base grade; Speedline and Dreamline.[34] The Ultimate grade was added in December 2021.[35] It was discontinued in April 2024.[36]
The Pro Max variant, powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with standard all-wheel-drive, was launched in 22 April 2022. It is available in two grade levels: Dreamline and Ultimate.[37] The Tiggo 8 Pro Max received a facelift in 30 August 2023.[38]
The plug-in hybrid variant, the Tiggo 8 Pro e+, powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol plug-in hybrid (PHEV), was launched alongside the plug-in hybrid version of the Tiggo 7 Pro in October 2023.[39]
South Africa
The Tiggo 8 Pro was launched in South Africa in February 2022.[40] It is available in two grade levels: Distinctive and Executive. Both were powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine.[41]
The Pro Max variant, powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, was launched in December 2022 to commemorate Chery South Africa's first anniversary.[42]
Both Tiggo 8 Pro and Tiggo 8 Pro Max received facelifts in August 2023. The Distinctive grade on the Pro variant was dropped for the facelift.[43]
In March 2024, an AWD option was made available for the Tiggo 8 Pro Max.[44]
Spain
In May 2024 at the Madrid Car Experience, the vehicle was introduced in Spain as the Ebro S800 and will be sold by Ebro, a local company that partnered with Chery to assemble Chery vehicles in Barcelona. The Ebro S800 is based on the Tiggo 8 with the 2024 facelift styling.[45]

The Chery Tiggo 8 L which was revealed in May 2024. Compared to the original Tiggo 8, the Tiggo 8 L is 60 mm (2.4 in) longer in size and 80 mm (3.1 in) longer in wheelbase.[47] It is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Previously at the Beijing Auto Show in April 2024, Chery announced the Chery Fulwin T9 (Chinese: 奇瑞风云T9; pinyin: Qíruì Fēngyún T9), which is the PHEV variant of Tiggo 8 L with a different front end design. It is slotting below the slightly larger Chery Fulwin T10 which is the PHEV variant of Tiggo 9. [48][49] It is powered by a plug-in hybrid 1.5-litre and an electric motor paired with a 3-speed DHT transmission. This PHEV powertrain is marketed as the Kunpeng Super Hybrid C-DM.[50] It will be available with two-row and three-row seating options.[51] At the same auto show, Chery introduced the vehicle for markets outside China as the Chery Tiggo 9, a different model than the Chinese market Chery Tiggo 9.[52]
