Revision as of 23:37, 30 August 2024

This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on August 30, 2024.

----

Previous RfDs for this redirect and similar redirects:

Probably makes sense to retarget this to the target of Horizontal rule, which is HTML element#hr, given that the article which previously caused ambiguity for this redirect, Keturi Brūkšniai, has been deleted. Steel1943 (talk) 23:10, 30 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Glue70

Subject is not mentioned in target -1ctinus📝🗨 22:26, 30 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Speako

seems to refer to speech errors in general, and not just spoonerisms. opinions? cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 19:41, 30 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Bames jond

BAMES NOND'S HAVING A STRONK. on an unrelated note, this specific spoonerism isn't mentioned in the target, or anywhere for that matter, but might still be a plausible-ish misspelling of james bond cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 19:36, 30 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The BFG (1987 film)

apparently someone didn't mean to mean to deliberately spread a misconception that this film was released 2 years earlier by accident by accident. the year is mentioned once across all articles related to the big fucking giant, and not as this film's release date cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 18:52, 30 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Squeezel

created as the "vietnamese word for porcupine". if wiktionary is to be trusted, it's not cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 18:22, 30 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Cogsan: Please don't forget to notify the creator of the redirect. I've done that now. CycloneYoris talk! 19:04, 30 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

My first thought was this.
It appears to be from something from Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations [1][2]. So that at least explains it, and I don't see it sreferring to anything else. There is a mention (with a different spelling) at Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations#Vietnam, so I would suggest retargetting there; since it links to the correct species (the Malayan porcupine). Cremastra (talk) 23:37, 30 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ilspile

apparently an extremely archaic synonym. not mentioned in the target, or wiktionary, or... really, any reliable source i could find. one dictionary had an entry for this word as a redirect to "porcupine", so at least that means the word exists in some language, but that entry was buried under a bunch of hedgehog costume sales (all written in some indecipherable glyphs for some reason). all of this is to say that i don't think the term sees common enough usage to warrant a redirect cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 18:16, 30 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Multiplicities

Unclear that this plural form would not be ambiguous the same way as Multiplicity. 1234qwer1234qwer4 12:47, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Relisting comment: Notified of this discussion at the suggested potential target Multiplicity.

Ragg tuning fork

that's apparently some brand that produces tuning forks. not mentioned in the target, doesn't seem like there's anything reliable regarding it cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 14:09, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment, it is a brand but from what I can tell it seems to be one of, if not the, most notable manufacturer of tuning forks with at least two apparently reliable sources discussing it in depth [3] and [4] so there would be no verifiability issues with adding a mention. Whether a mention would be due or not I don't know, but I can't say for certain it wouldn't be. The redirect is getting suprisingly many views (over 100 this year), at least some of those will be because it's linked at rock gong but whether that's responsible for all of them I can't say (if the redirect is deleted that link must be updated). weird place to put what's effectively an ad (or mistaking "ragg" as being part of the name), but i won't question it cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 14:54, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The greatest star cast ever assembled– the greatest story ever told

Seems both too long and incredibly specific to the point where I can't see it being used. Zippybonzo | talk | contribs (they/them) 12:08, 30 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Keep Sholay is likely the most popular Indian film ever, and everything from its marketing taglines to dialogues to even the names of minor characters are familiar with everyday people (the FA is pretty indepth about this). It includes this as well. Gotitbro (talk) 12:39, 30 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Margaretville station

No mention at target. Perhaps there's a better target? Redirect is a result of an AFD discussion but I can't see the logic in redirecting to an article that doesn't contain any material on the search term. TarnishedPathtalk 09:12, 30 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This is part of why I originally nominated the article for deletion. It is completely uncited, which makes merging a non-option. despite it being closed as merge. Thus, I used the other consensus, and redirected.

ETDA

This redirect was created as an obvious typo of the common name of the chemical, EDTA. However, "ETDA" has two legitimate meanings - the Electronic Trade Documents Act (2023) (see UNCITRAL Model Law on Electronic Transferable Records), and the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (see Surangkana Wayuparb). Neither of these has its own article, but the UK legislation, at least, has the potential to merit one. A standard {{redirect}} on the EDTA page is a possibility, but the resulting text will be long and potentially disruptive. My suggestion is therefore to add an ETDA section to EDTA (disambiguation) with entries for the UK law and the Thai government agency, but I don't know if this is fully compliant with our rules on DAB pages, and would like to discuss it before taking unilateral action. Tevildo (talk) 00:15, 30 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect - I think it should be redirected to one of the two article's subsections, with a {{Redirect-distinguish}} template added to the other article. I would rather this than maintaining the continued redirection to EDTA/Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid that I had originally set up in 2007, 17 years ago when there were fewer overall articles on en.wikipedia, and there was a greater need to redirect such typos. My preference would be for Electronic Transactions Development Agency, as it actually uses the 'ETDA' acronym within the article (and as a section heading), while Electronic Trade Documents Act (2023) does not use 'ETDA' as an acronym within the UNCITRAL Model Law on Electronic Transferable Records article.
