Cyclostrematidae is a taxonomic family of small sea snails, marine gastropod molluscs in the superorder Vetigastropoda.

(Note: Gastropod taxonomy has been in flux for more than half a century, and this is especially true currently, because of new research in molecular phylogeny. Because of all the on-going changes, different reliable sources can yield very different classifications.)

Description

These are small shells, mostly with a low to flattened spire, varying from thin and fragile to solidly built, and from smooth to strongly axially and spirally sculptured. The operculum is circular, with a central nucleus, chitinous within but with the outer surface either calcareous, or with calcareous granules.
