Chlamys is a genus of small scallops, marine bivalve molluscs in the family Pectinidae.

Distribution

These scallops are found world-wide.

Habitat

These scallops are sedentary, attached by a byssus to the undersides of rocks or other fixed objects. They are often enveloped in sponge.

Description

The thin shells are often attractive and strongly-coloured, usually sculpted with regular, radial grooves. The 'ears' are unequal.
