James Drescher (born August 12, 1965), better known as Jimmy G or Jimmy Gestapo and also known as Jimmy Spliff, is the lead singer for New York based hardcore punk band Murphy's Law.[1][2]

Career

Murphy's Law is an American hardcore band from New York City, New York, formed in 1982. While vocalist Jimmy Gestapo remains the only remaining original member of the band. the line-up has consisted of former members of bands such as Skinnerbox, Danzig, The Bouncing Souls, Mucky Pup, Dog Eat Dog, Hanoi Rocks, Agnostic Front, Warzone, Cro-Mags, and D Generation.[1]

In 2018, he was hospitalized and underwent surgery to remove his gallbladder. The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Sheer Terror, Killing Time held a concert to raise funds for his medical bills.[4] There was also a GoFundMe campaign on his behalf.[5]

On May 4, 2023, Gestapo along with various friends were celebrating the one year anniversary of the death of musician Howie Pyro. During the celebration, Pyro's former D Generation bandmate Jesse Malin suffered a rare spinal stroke that left him paralyzed from the waist down. Gestapo carried Malin from the restaurant into a nearby apartment and where he was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital.[6]
