Liam Clancy played in Galveston, Texas in the 1980's - 1990's. It was an intimate show at the old 1800 +/- opera house. Tommy Makem sang and played with him. The intimacy and quality of this particular concert cannot be overestimated. Liam even had to shut a disruptive person up who kept shouting "up the republic". His doing so allowed us all to enjoy this rare treat. The audience clapped and shot up clapping and shouting at the end, but seemed mostly timid throughout the show. I remember feeling the same way -- I heard all of the songs impressed upon me in childhood, but felt trancendant.
