Welcome to the Cryptozoology WikiProject. We are a group dedicated to improving Wikipedia's coverage of articles related to cryptozoology and cryptids.
Goals
The goal of this WikiProject is to provide complete coverage on subjects related to cryptids, by expanding articles on cryptids, and stories about them.
Scope
This project proposes to work with all pages related to animals identified as cryptids, their history, geographical diffusion, and related places and people. We will specifically deal with all articles contained in the Category:Cryptozoology and its subcategories.
This project includes articles of former cryptids now accepted by science.
What Wikiproject Cryptozoology is not
This project (like all others) is not a fringe view platform (See WP:Fringe). All users are welcome (and needed) to contribute and are invited to do so.
If a fellow editor makes a worthy contribution to Cryptozoology related article(s) or increases awareness of our project, give them this barnstar with a nice message by inserting the following line of text to recognize them in a appropriate way.

Other tasks
To use the cryptid infobox template for all the creatures, real and imaginary, within the scope of this project. This would include:
The best and clearest (but not necessarily most famous) picture of the creature. If no picture is available, simply don't include anything in this space.
Alternate names for the creature.
The areas where the creature has been sighted, as specifically as possible.
Whether or not the creature is believed to be hostile towards humans or domestic animals.
The approximate height (or length for quadrupeds and sea creatures) and weight of the creature.
The creature's diet, if known.
The type of creature (use the types such as primate, etc. already present on the cryptids page. Perhaps these terms could be revised?)
The articles should also contain information on the specific myths and stories, if any, relating to the subject cryptid.
Users who are interested in WikiProject Cryptozoology may add their username here as members.
Members may also add {{User WikiProject Cryptids}} to their userpages to identify themselves as members of this project.
Articles on cryptid-related subjects, or articles that give brief mention of cryptids, not necessarily improved to Featured Status by this WikiProject.
Please feel free to list your new cryptid-related articles here (newer articles at the top, please). Any new articles that have an interesting or unusual fact in them should be suggested for the Did you know? box the Main Page. Please also make sure that each new article created is put into one of the categories for cryptids, so that the articles will appear there. Also, if possible, add each new article to the page Wikipedia:WikiProject Cryptozoology/Articles (still under construction) so that they can be viewed for recent changes.
