Rationale for fair use in article Stabat Mater (Pärt)

This sound clip is being used in Wikipedia's article on Arvo Pärt's musical setting of the Stabat Mater. Although it is subject to copyright, I, Mark Buckles, believe that it is covered by US fair use laws because:

  • It is a small part of the audio file, only 27 seconds of a 24 minute recording.
  • The quality of the audio clip is reduced from the original recording.
  • It is used here for purely encyclopedic and informational purposes.
  • It does not harm the copyright owner commercially.

I believe this audio clip contributes significantly to the article by illustrating an article about music with actual music rather than merely words.
