This sentence:

" Such production of iron was however local and on a small scale, much effort was needed to extract small quantities of iron."

-was changed to the following:

"Such production of iron was however local and on a small scale—much effort was needed to extract small quantities of iron."

-which I would question, as scale-much do not make sense to me. Could be small-scale, but good if it is corrected, if I am right about this one. Ulflarsen (talk) 16:22, 31 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I understand your question. I put an em-dash (—) after "scale" to join the parenthetical phrase "much effort was needed to extract small quantities of iron" with the first independent clause "Such production of iron was however local and on a small scale". To use a comma to separate two independent clauses is called a comma splice, and is usually considered a style error in English. If you don't like the dash, we could change it to:
"Such production of iron was however local and on a small scale; much effort was needed to extract small quantities of iron"
Hope this answers your question, Eisfbnore (下さいて話し) 16:33, 31 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again, to me the last looks better, but once again, I am not fluent in English, so I leave it to you to decide. Ulflarsen (talk) 16:56, 31 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding translation from Norwegian Bokmål/Riksmål version of Wikipedia

I will over the coming months translate the article, first the main text and then the foot notes. Any help in copy-edit is much appreciated, it is also quite possible that I get some terms wrong, so I would be more than happy if someone with knowledge about this correct my mistakes. Best regards, Ulflarsen (talk) 14:14, 8 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have now translated the article in total, but as I am not a native speaker of English proofreading is much welcomed! Ulflarsen (talk) 12:20, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
