Hi everyone, my name is Marcin Barszczewski and I used to work in Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen, Germany where I finished my PhD in biochemistry/neuroscience graduating from International Max Planck Research School for Neurosciences. Originally I come from Warsaw, Poland where I lived and studied until mid-2000.

Having spent 23 years in the country of far too many "glorious" unsuccessful uprisings, I decided to change my environment and joined that PhD Programme launched by University of Göttingen and Max Planck Society and set off for Göttingen to study various cool stuff and to enjoy various sorts of German beer ;)

However, at the end of November 2005 I gave up "wet-lab science" and left Germany (less Weissbier for me...)

Since late 2005 I have been living in Belfast, Northern Ireland and working at Andor Technology I was Application Specialist for imaging dealing with various types of CCD sensors (cameras and spectroscopes) for bioimaging and physical chemistry but have since then done loads of other things, some of which were unbelievably nerdy and cool.

The "hobby department" consists of a few random things, among them submarine warfare, as you could easily guess from my screen name, naval gear, scuba diving, skiing, fell-walking, pipe smoking, quantum computing, reading (e.g. Amos Oz, Isaac B. Singer, J.R.R. Tolkien) etc, etc.
