Salim Diakité (born 3 June 2000) is a professional footballer who plays as a defender for Italian Serie B club Palermo. Born in France, he plays for the Mali national team.[1]
Club career
[edit]In 2018, Diakité joined the youth academy of Portuguese top flight side Rio Ave.[citation needed]
In 2019, he signed for Olympia Agnonese in the Italian fourth division from French fourth division club Mantois.[citation needed]
In 2020, he signed for Teramo in the Italian third division.[2]
In 2021, he joined Serie B side Ternana.[3]
On 25 January 2024, Diakité signed a 4.5-year contract with Palermo.[4]
International career
[edit]Born in France, Diakité is of Malian descent.[3] He made his debut for the Mali national team on 11 June 2024 in a World Cup qualifier against Madagascar at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa. He started the game and played 88 minutes in a scoreless draw.[5]
