Baboon grooming

[edit]

In more than 10,000 edits over more than two years, that's actually my first barnstar given for a real and honest reason (I think I got another one once for just existing). I've long since come to the conclusion that 98% of barnstars are given out as social signals by social WP climbers, a lot like baboon-grooming. Some of the worst admins I've ever seen, have whole pages of them. But again, thanks for one that I'm sure isn't one of THOSE. SBHarris 17:07, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bugaboo (The Flea)

[edit]

Hello JediLofty, thank you very much for taking the time to contact me.

The reason way I moved Bugaboo (The Flea) was because I placed it with the other Quicksilva games released in 1983. To simply put it, the games are to go in order by year of release (1983) then by publisher (Quicksilva) and alphabetically (B). Complicated? Yeah I agree, but I soon got used to it and I hope you'll soon get used to it as well when adding new games. I hope you understand my reason, it's not a matter of doing something wrong, it's only logical and I'm just meeting guidelines. It's all I can do really.

The page itself is an ongoing one will loads of games still to be added in. I appreciate your work in adding a game that we missed earlier. I am currently working to improve the page, but if you wish to help out then I give you my blessing and if you need any further inquiries on this topic, please do not hesitate to contact me and I'll be glad to assist.

Thanks again and take care. Raphie (talk) 13:52, 17 April 2008 (UTC) ==[reply]

Ok me again, I'm just gonna give you an example of how a new game should by listed in the List of ZX Spectrum games page. Say a made up game, Rage of the Animals, Wikisoft, 1990. First look for the 1990 column, then look at the list and you'll see the games are in order of publisher, so just go to W and slot Wikisoft in between Virgin Games and Your Sinclair. Then if Wikisoft had more then one release in 1990, (say Vandal Busters), then place Rage of the Animals above Vandal Busters and PRESTO! you have added a new game to the list. Hope you'll find this helpful when adding new games. Raphie (talk) 14:03, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Michael Starr (playwright)

[edit]

Hello! While I am usually not in the habit of provoking 6'7" blokes, I can say that I decided to remove the speedy delete tag for two reasons: (1) primarily, I was able to locate some information on the subject (as Michael Starr) via Google, and (2) the article is a bit on the old side and I felt that either AfD or a Prod would have been more suitable. The article does state that referencing is needed (the tag is at the bottom of the piece -- I will move it back to where it belongs). I hope this is a satisfactory explanation. If not, then please give me at least 30 seconds for a good running head start. Cheers! Ecoleetage (talk) 15:36, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, on the Internet you can be whatever you want to be! Why be a wimp when you can be a ferocious bully? :) With the article's subject, try Googling "Michael Starr" -- a few things pop up. Not much, admittedly, but I did say that his notability was "marginal" (he's not Harold Pinter, by any stretch). In generally, I believe it is best form for older articles like the Starr piece to go to AfD for erasure -- I often dig through the WP:Backlog in search of old muck. In any event, I've enjoyed making your acquaintance and I hope to see you online again soon!

The template you're looking for

[edit]

Is indeed the {{notaforum}} template. Simply use the parameter to specify your required message after the words "This is not a forum for general discussion of..." So you might use something like {{|notaforum|voice cast, how much you hate the character designs, the new interpretations of Transformer biology or how this movie "isn't Transformers"}}. Only, y'know, something even more entertainingly snide. Steve TC 11:32, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Jedi Lofty, I'm new to wikipedia and i'm a Sport's reporter for KO Magazine, and a exiciting boxer that has been getting a little "pub" lately has come accross my desk. I was unaware that Boxx Faxx Magazine wrote an article on this fighter until I read the Deletion Page posted. (By the way, your conclusions were all incorrect about this fighter) however, I wish to continue to finsh my article and I have verifiable facts of his history in this game as well, so feel free to contact me again, and again, I'm sorry if I started a new incident here. I will include all "ref-points" in my article for wikipedia's review. Thank you. 15:50, 20 September 2008 (UTC)15:50, 20 September 2008 (UTC) Sport's Rec. Hello Jody, again I would like to express my opinion on you request to have my user page, Grambling T Dominique, Jr., deleted. This boxer is remarkable, and I do not know User Boxx Faxx, However I am aware of the Magazine. I report on boxers and I want to do an independant piece on this boxer. He is well published and as you can see my article is still "under construction", as I am still gathering all my facts. Please allow me to do that. My user page is the begenning of my fact finding quest and as you well know several so-called boxing sites are unreliable with bad information, and they disclose this on there sites as well. I want to ensure the editors that this addition well be "an addition" to wikipedia. Thk You.10:50, 23 September 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sports Rec (talkcontribs)

M&M's World

[edit]

Hi JediLofty

Just noticed that you removed the gallery of photos from M&M's World, I understand and agree it does not bring any encyclopedic facts to the article but it does not harm either. The photos are here to illustrate a place that not everyone can have the chance to visit. It is a real plus for levering the quality of any article especially if the photos are nice, I personally like to find such in articles I am going through. Would you mind to revert that change? Richieman (talk) 15:51, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article will most likely grow up and the gallery would then make sense (and anyway illustrates the subject as some galleries do for example for buildings and skyscrapers). Could you let me know where in WP:SPAM there is an argument against such addition to articles? Anyway do not be so strict else the "wiki spirit" may get lost and the contributors leave with it. I added a link within the articles to the Wikicommons category, hope it is fine with you. Richieman (talk) 19:25, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Would you care to elaborate on how you think they fail WP:MUSIC? I think it's pretty clear that they at least meet the general notability guidelines with multiple reliable sources present. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 16:47, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Main page appearance

Hello! This is a note to let the main editors of this article know that it will be appearing as the main page featured article on July 3, 2011. You can view the TFA blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/July 3, 2011. If you think it is necessary to change the main date, you can request it with the featured article directors Raul654 (talk · contribs) or his delegate Dabomb87 (talk · contribs), or at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/requests. If the previous blurb needs tweaking, you might change it—following the instructions of the suggested formatting. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. :D Thanks! Tbhotch. Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! See terms and conditions. 18:17, 29 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Rob Paravonian has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Does not appear to pass WP:GNG

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Replaceable fair use File:AotKT ZX Spectrum Screenshot.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:AotKT ZX Spectrum Screenshot.gif. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Finnusertop (talkcontribs) 22:03, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
