Borg and 24h internet cutoff

Hi,

I am currently looking again into my borg + borgmatic setup with the goal to get from various testing to a productive setup. There is one issue, where I have no clue, what I could do to overcome: unfortunately my DSL provider still forces a cutoff every 24 hours and therefor my remote borg repository in the internet is not reachable during 1 or 2 minutes. The problem is, that I cannot finish the first backup in under 24 hours, so borgmatic respectively borg starts over from the beginning after the cutoff but, still the backup cannot be finished in the next 24 hours. Is there anything I can do, that borg can cope with the planned short unreachability of the repository due to the internet cutoff, which is not starting over?
I am running borg 1.2.8 on a RPi5 via borgmatic. I hope that asking here and not borgmatic was right. If not, I will ask there for sure.

I'd recommend running a set of partial backups that can finish in order to take advantage of the dedup location to get to a state where the full backup can complete

I recall there should be automatic checkpoints that ought to help with resuming a backup

Aren't those available?

With the default settings, borg creates checkpoints every 1800s.

Thus, just retrying the same backup should lead to progress. If one just looks at the log (if using --list), it might seem that it always re-starts from the beginning (and it actually does that), but as more and more content chunks will be already in the repo, it makes progress nevertheless.
