Sasau Monastery (A Needle in a Haystack) | Side quests in Kingdom Come Deliverance Kingdom Come Deliverance Guide & Walkthrough
Last update: 06 March 2018
This page contains a list of side quests that can be finished during your infiltration of Sasau Monastery. This happens during A Needle in a Haystack main quest. Henry loses all his equipment during his stay at the monastery. It won't be easy to leave that place. Try to complete all of these quests before you focus on finding Pious.
Worldly Goods
How to unlock: Speak with Siskin or find his hidden stash in the dormitory.
Siskin is one of the novices. Find him somewhere in the monastery and use persuasion during your conversation with him (you need at least 12 points) to convince the man to share his secret with you. You learn about, e.g. his stash. Don't worry if you fail at persuading him because the stash can still be found by following this walkthrough.
Head to the dormitory located on the upper floor (the room with the monks' beds). Get on the adjacent balcony (you can see the chapel from it). Find the movable floor plate presented in the picture. This is Siskin's secret stash. Inside of it you can find 200 Groschen (you can spend them on, e.g. buying lockpicks), an ornamented dagger (you can use it to kill Pious during the main quest) and Necronomicon II.
Note - You can tell Siskin that you have already found his stash during your first conversation with him. You can also act rightly by handling over the content of the stash to one of the Brothers.
Bad Habits
How to unlock: Examine the monastery's basement.
This quest can be unlocked after going down into the Cellar at any point of a day (it is accessed by the same staircase that you use to reach the dormitory). Henry notes that someone is sneaking into the Cellar to drink the wine. You can examine this problem closer by reaching this place during a late hour (after 9:00 pm.). You learn that the monks are drinking wine. You can let them continue drinking and leave (there is a risk that you can anger them). Joining them is a better solution.
The monks order you to get a new barrel of wine. Meet with Novice Jodok. Tell him that you want to help. Henry needs a key to the monastery or a few lockpicks because these items can help you get out of the locked part of the monastery. The key can be stolen from the Prior (preferably when he is sleeping). Lockpicks can be found behind the altar in the chapel. Meet with Jodok in the garden before midnight. Reach that place between 11:00 pm and 12:00 pm.
You have to go to the building located in the north part of Sasau Monastery. Avoid guards and other people by keeping your distance. Use the bottom entrance to the building (the doors aren't locked) and find Cask of wine for Circators in the poorly lit area (take a torch from the monastery's basement before you get here). Go back to Jodok. Return to the monks together with him or go alone. The barrel must be placed on the table (see the picture). This completes the quest. You should also use this opportunity to drink with the monks, befriend them and ask a few questions about the monastery and the novices.
Scattered Pages
How to unlock: Speak with Brother Librarian in the monastery.
Ask Brother Librarian about additional activities. He tells you about missing pages from one of the books. Pages from torn book are more like "collectibles". The picture above shows an example. Get a lockpick (one of them is behind the altar in the chapel) BEFORE you start searching for them and get a torch (you can find it in, e.g. the container in the Cellar). Also, you should sneak around the monastery during a night because you will have to break into rooms and enter private areas.
Here are the places where you can find the pages
Library - The page is in the locked chest (easy lock).
Library - The page lies on one of the tables.

Go back with all the pages to the Librarian. As a reward he gives you a key to the cabinet with forbidden books. This will be very helpful during Libri Prohibiti quest described below.
Libri Prohibiti
How to unlock: Speak with Brother Nevlas in the monastery.
Ask Brother Nevlas about additional activities. Nevlas tells you about Abbot Peter's disease and about a forbidden book that could help the Abbot. Tell Nevlas that you want to help.
You have to sneak into the library located on the floor. The best way to do that is to get there during a night - thanks to that you won't alarm anyone.
The book is inside the cabinet presented in the picture - it is located near the door that lead to Prior's chamber. You can open it with a lockpick (secured with a hard lock) or you can use the key that you got from Brother Librarian after completing Scattered Pages side quest.
Find Avicenna - Sufficientia book on one of the shelves and bring it to Nevlas. As a reward you can ask Nevlas about the other novices (The Abbot's List) or about a way to leave the monastery.
Abbots List
How to unlock: Speak with Brother Nevlas after completing Libri Prohibiti or find a book about the novices.
This is a minor quest that can be unlocked after asking Brother Nevlas about the other novices (complete Libri Prohibiti quest first). Henry must reach the book with a list and descriptions of the novices. You have to reach Prior's private chamber on the upper floor.
Go there during a night. Reach the library and open the hard lock with a lockpick. Keep sneaking through the chambers until you reach the one with four chairs (the picture 1). The book that you are looking for is on the lectern located in the corner of the room (the picture 2). Take it to complete the quest.
